Cant' Install Creator 2011 Pro - Installation Error 007F

Hey Everyone,

 

I Just bought Creator 2011 Pro. My system currently has Creator 2010 Pro

 

Running Windows Vista SP2 Ultimate. Up to date. Video drivers up to date.

 

So:-

I uninstalled creator 2010.

I checked Windows Update and updated Windows Vista Ultimate SP2

I restarted my PC

 

Then:-

Directx 9 installs fine

I then get an error message 007F - cannot find Smartsound

 

From the log:

I have other programs that use Smartsound - most video editors seem to. I wondered if that was a problem?

Hey everyone,

 

I fixed this. If it happens to you:-

 

1 use msconfig (in the run box, enter msconfig) ,

2 in msconfig, go to services, disable all services except microsoft ones,

3 restart,

4 install Roxio,

5 then use msconfig and re-enable all services

 

Worked for me...

Good idea!

 

Presumably there is a service running for SmartSound from another program and using msconfig to halt it will allow it to install.
