"please Insert A Recordable Dvd" ?

i have completely set roxio up and all is working fine...i can see my vhs on my computer screen and hear the audio,,,however when it gets the point to record..."please insert a recordable dvd" pops up. i have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop and the dvd i was using was Memorex DVD-R.

 

Is there another type or brand of dvd that would work?

Memorex is considered by most, to be Dumpster Quality media… Verbatim is one of the best and Sony seem good too.

 

You seem the be using the Plug & Burn method which is the worse choice

 

Try Capture then Burn. That way you have a copy of the captured file incase the Burn fails.

finally a direct answer! customer service just sends automated responses. i am going to go to best buy and try those other dvd's.

These are my automated responses

 

Your documentation nudges you along the Plug & Burn path and says nothing about Capture Edit Burn. (I am assuming you have the 201B version as the other 2 older ones should be pretty well off the shelves by now)

 

P&B is the Record DVD button on your opening screen:

 

 

Whereas capture & burn happen when you click the Record, Edit and Save button.

 

I also recommend you get a disc or 2 of DVD RW media for testing (it’s reusable).
