The AVI file for BBC's Story of India chapter 5, will reliably crash Toast 10.0.8
I drag three video files to Toast in order to create a video DVD (or to create an image for one).
During the transcoding Toast will crash every time. (It doesn't care if I have indicated that I want to change PAL to NTSC).
I found a clue. When VLC attempts to open to file, it complains that the AVI index is invalid, and asks if I want to fix it. If I say NO, not to fix, and then play, I find that about five minutes in the video the video freezes (while the audio continues to play correctly).
If I start VLC over and do fix the AVI index, the video plays fine. I expect that Toast will likely work with the AVI file fixed by VLC
VLC v 1.1.3 64 bit
Mac OS 10.6.5 on Intel Mac Pro
Google to find the file "BBC.The.Story.of.India.5of6.The.Meeting.of.Two.Oceans.XviD.AC3.www.mvgroup.org.avi"
