Certificate Errors

Joe Reid

Question

I have been using Roxio for a number of years now, but 2011 version takes the biscuit. Takes ages to install, no certificate error, total crap. Have tried all the fixes, but nothing works. Will try a software programme that has been tried and tested in future like Nero. Sorry Roxio.......GOODBYE.

You haven't even bothered to say Hello!

I have installed C2011 several times and have never had a certificate error and it takes no longer then other programs of similar complexity.

We have no idea what you have tried, "tried all the fixes" means nothing.

Have you read and followed the pinned posts that are at the top of the Installation forum?

You're totally right, Joe. Creator 2011 is crap. I've been using Creator 2009 without much problem. This version still has bugs that Roxio evidently has no intention to fix. I've tried everything that online support has suggested to no avail. If anyone has this problem I would think that the only option is to look for a better product.

I'm sorry to hear of your installation woes too!

I've installed C2011 Pro four times on W-7 x64 Pro and W-7 x64 Ultimate without one problem.

Have you tried phone support?

Telephone Support: Free for Creator 2011 customers during normal business hours* at 877-793-7471 (North America only).

FIX - Download the Creator Pro 2010 or 2011 patch, restart your computer in SAFE MODE and Install the patch. Restart your computer and Roxio applications work.

BACKGROUND - Installed Creator Pro 2011 and received certificate errors both in Creator 2011 Pro and 2010 Pro so I couldn't even go back to what was once a working version! Discovered the fix (Knowledgebase Article : 000244CR) following the instructions to a "T" and found that downloading the 2011 patch completed successfully but when pressing the "Reset License and TimeLocks button" the patch would not run. I finally decided to restart the computer in "SAFE MODE" by depressing F8 after the windows screen and selected SAFE MODE WITHOUT NETWORKING. I was able to get to the pre-downloaded patch and successfully ran the patch. It didn't take too long to run on my HP computer. A restart of the computer in the usual mode successfully started ROXIO applications! I got the idea for safe mode when I began reading all the background application disabling that Roxio asked users to do. When that didn't work, safe mode seemed to be my last resort and it worked.

SUGGESTION FOR ROXIO DESIGNERS AND DEVELOPERS - Perhaps Roxio designers and technical support personnel will work closer together WITH long time and experienced users in a BETA Environment to make sure that no errors occur during installation of new platforms in the future. I have liked and used Roxio products since 1999 but I will definitely read all of the blogs BEFORE I ever upgrade a ROXIO product again! Not worth the aggravation of having to resolve the problem yourself!

HI Joe i've had the same with 2009 but didn't have the internet to help me resolve the problem.

I,m no pc boff as you can guess but when i got intouch with Roxio recently they said "This is a legacy product" Fair enough so i bought 2011 same thing.Gone through the steps Roxio advised and when it comes to Activation Form Rest License and time locks.(NOT RESPONDING)

Is Nero better?Don't want to mess with the start up options as this will probably end up costing me more money.

How were you able to post this? Since you are not in the US have you tried live chat?

PS - Nero is not in the top ten of video editing programs as rated by an independent agency. If you just want soemthing simple, why not use Windows Movie Maker. It is free.

Did you try the safe mode as suggested above?

I didn't have the internet in 2009.I'm in Manchester UK I've already bought C2009/C2011 and have probably no chance of getting my money back as the phone charge's to roxio are well over the top I don't want to waste any more money with them.I've tried turning off anti virus software and using the safe mode option but to no avail. But thanks for your time anyway.

Nothing to do with the Certificate error but did you know that your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for video editing?

" For data burning and copy, audio capture and editing: Intel® 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 processor or AMD equivalent, 512 MB RAM for Windows XP and 1GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

For video editing and conversion and DVD playback: Intel Pentium 4 2GHz processor or AMD equivalent and 1GB RAM. Multi-core processor with at least 2GB RAM recommended."

I'm not sure if that contributes to the issue or not. If you just got the program and want to do video editing, then return it to see if you can get your money back.
