Wrong Software Starts Installting

mzagurek

Question

After installing Windows 7 Pro as a clean installation, I attempted to re-install Roxio Creator 2010 obtained from downloading the software after purchase July 2010. After clicking on the .exe the installation starts first using the WinZip Self-Extractor. However, it starts to install a non-Roxio product. I have never seen this behavior before and have re-installed many software products without any problems during the Windows 7 Pro upgrade. Any suggestions?

What is trying to install? Ever use Microsoft Installer CleanUP Utility?

It tries to install another software program that is already installed and has nothing to do with Roxio products. The MS Installer Cleanup Utility is no longer supported by Microsoft.I will try to uninstall the product that starts to install when I try to install Roxio Creator 2010 and see if that helps.

What program is it trying to install? Or is that a big secret?

If the software is something you will not use, use REVO Uninstaller (free download from cnet.com) to remove it. Use the MODERATE Mode

If you had already uninstalled it and you still get the message, you can still get MSICUU off the web even though it is not supported by MS. Make sure you do a back up or make a restore point and then use it to remove that other software.
