Error 18771

novicejmgir

Question

I am very frustated with Toast 10 Titanium Pro because I can not burn HD DVd using the Bluray/HD plug in with Toast and Fotomagico. The slideshow looks great but for the last 10 days I have try to burn it to DVD usinf the HD plug-in but to no avail. I have read some posts in the past regarding this issue and tried all with several uninstall/install. Nothing works. Is there a software integrating: making the slideshow from Hig def photos-encoding the slideshow-burning in one step in BD/HD format for Mac users. If not what's the fix for error 18771. I have had no compatibility error messages. Thank you for your help in the matter as I am not a digital expert.

I have a similar problem, but I am trying to render a HiDef (Apple ProRes444 - 3:36 minutes) on to a DVD. It worked fine several times (different file but same content previous edit), but now I cannot encode at all. Tried reinstall and many other "work arounds" (disk image, etc) and have had no luck. The file plays fine in Quicktime and I am able to import and work with/re-encode in FinalCutStudio. File is fine. Various settings in Toast dont change the error.

Not happy either. Was told this was a good program but now am beginning to wonder if it isnt just a flakefest.

Again - Error code -18771. Someone from Roxio - Please help us.

Just wish I had something helpful to contribute....

The basic issue is that Roxio/Fotomagico gave me good results for a few HD DVD using the Bluray plug-in. Then problems started and now its the same error all the time. I uninstalled and clean install the software several times as well as redoing the slideshow. No luck. I have a great 420 photos HD DVD that needs a Bluray player and a 77 photos slideshow also in HD. WIth music & special effects. So it works some of the time but not all the time.

I too have had issues with 18771 error code, and have thus far only managed to create a blu ray compatible DVD with a peice of footage at 1m 48s long (but have managed it twice) anything longer doesn't work. 5, 10 15 & 20 min reduced edits of my clips produces the same error after 2 to 3 hours (or even overnight encoding). It is terribly frustrating. To be fair to the support staff they have been giving me fairly instant responses to my web ticket but thus far nothing has worked. I have been given the following advice

- Trash the Toast preference and the 'plist' file.

Delete the 'Roxio Toast Prefs' file and the 'com.roxio.Toast.plist' file from this location:

/Library/Preferences/

The run disc utility to repair prefs and tried to burn as image file instead of straight burn to DVD but that got me a "Couldn't complete the last command because one or more files are open Result code -47"

I have lots of wonderful HD footage, edited easily with iMovie 11 and encoded into a .mov file at 1920 x 1080 HD settings plays great on the MAC but just can't be burnt using this software.

Hopefully Roxio will come up with a solution....soon!

So, I contacted Roxio and had a chat session and then send a screen shot of the error message and the System profiler. I got many web tickets that got nowhere. It seems to me that a lot is automated after the first or the second messages. Do you have any luck with your software or have you solved the problem yourself?

Thanks for any comments.

The answer that I got from Roxio is that they don't support Fotomagico. This is fine with me but we don't know which software gives us the problem, is Fotomagico or Roxio? I have said before that sometime it works and sometime not. In addition, when I paid for Roxio 10 Titanium Pro, the Fotomagico software was bundled with it, so........... what does this mean? Its the big run around stuff.

Got two emails today from Roxio telling me that the web tickets are closed. Obviously its automated and nobody reads what our problems are, its pitiful and I am sorry to see the way the Roxio people are treating the people who have paid for a product that pays their salaries and they don't have the decency of even trying to help.

Thank you Roxio for all the crap.

Roxio advised me to try the following for error -18771 when I was having difficulty making a BluRay disc version. It worked for me at that time.

In resolving your concern you may change the encoding option to Custom and then lower down the Maximum Bit Rate and Average Bit Rate since the error message implied that toast cannot use the same encoding settings to the same file that you burn into a DVD.

Here are the steps how you can go to custom settings.

1. Open Toast 10 > Video Tab > DVD Video then click Custom in Encoding Option.

2. Click More Button > Go to Encoding Tab > and lower Down Maximum Bit Rate and Average Bit Rate.

3. Click OK.
