Another In Need For A No Video Signal

family guy

Question

Hello, Please help me with my product. I am attempting to make dvd family movies for my parents for Christmas, and the Easy VHS to DVD is not appearing to be so easy or functional. I have followed all instructions. I installed the software. I downloaded the driver for the USB capture device. I went to the Record, Edit, Save portion of the program and made sure I followed all set-up instructions. However, after pressing Play on my VCR, I still get a "No Video Signal" prompt. I have switched VCRs, I have tried a DVD player and still no picture. I tried using an S-Video cable and using the yellow video connector and still no Video. Please help. Thank You

Sometimes we have seen where a user has to install several times… Vista was the about the worse OS that MS ever brewed up, which does not help matters. :D

The extra entry in Device Manager screams that something is wrong with the install :o

You are going to want to do the Prep Step, Prep Steps, delete all entries for the Device in the Device Manager then Uninstall the software.

Reboot and Install the Software. Only then do you want to plug in the Device.

Tried everything in the Prep for Install section. Still "No Video Signal". Any other suggestions other than blaming Microsoft?

The phone number you listed above is labeled as the number to contact Roxio's sales team for other products, and purchasing upgrades. The other 'customer support' number is labeled as a $1.89 charge per minute phone number. So are you telling me that because the software is not working as advertised, at no fault of my own, I am offered the wonderful opportunity to call a charge per minute customer service number which if I am put on hold for 5minutes I get the privilege to pay the company that is not assisting me another $10 dollars. Please tell me that is not what you are suggesting to me. I have sent multiple emails asking for assistance, and I was given a link to a Service Pack 2 upgrade page, which is blank. If no such upgrade exists; as it seems from what I have read in these forums; why would the people providing customer service not know this. Even more so, why would a customer service assistant send me to a link that they haven't even checked themselves. As for me, being someone who works in the customer service field...This experience for me and my employees is becoming priceless. Many examples on how not to treat our customers, EVER.

Thank You for all your help and input everyone. The problem I am having still exists, and as I said, I am not being assisted by the 'free email' customer service so any other advice will still be greatly appreciated. I would still love to give my parents their Christmas gift, hopefully sometime before the new year.

Thanks in advance,

family guy

Try this then:

Uninstall Roxio products using Revo Uninstaller http://www.revounins...e_download.html ) in the MODERATE MODE. It is free. make sure that there is no USB 2861 in your Device Manager.

Then read this http://forums.suppor...remium-32-sp1/. read the 1st four paragraphs carefully (especially the anti-virus). you can ignore the section on applying the SP 2 update.

In your Device Manager, do your's look like the ones in this post http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/49170-installing-easy-vhs-to-dvd-on-vista-home-premium-32-sp1/

Hello,

In my device manager I am getting: 'USB 2861 Device' in the 'Other Devices' section. At the same time I am getting: 'USB 2861 Device' under the 'Sound, Video and Game Controllers' section

I have NEVER seen it read: "Roxio Video Capture USB", not once in the 15 times I've installed and uninstalled, and plugged and unplugged, or updated, or downloaded, or anything.

Please Help

Please is anyone else out there that can help me. As I said before, I bought this software last week to put together home videos for my parents for Christmas. I have spent multiple hours trying to follow all the suggestions in this forum. I have not gotten much help from customer service for the last three days. I am hours from not having the gift I wanted to give to my parents for Christmas because this Roxio Easy VHS to DVD software is not Easy, and I am feeling more and more like I've gotten scammed. So please, if there are any souls out there who have solutions please post or send me an IM. It looks like I will be up all night again simply trying to get this software to work, so to say the least, I will be awake. Thank You.

That was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but not completely ;) If Windows says it is ‘searching for a solution’, everyone raise their hands who had it find a solution that worked

The fix shouldn’t be that hard just don’t use that Driver file!!! :angry2:

This is for XP but follow Post #4. HERE

That should do it :)

Hello again, Jim. I'm still working on trying to get this to work. I followed everything from Post #4. Still no video signal. Two USB 2861 appear in Device Manager, 1 under 'Sound, Video' that says it is working properly, the other under 'other devices' that says 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) This operation requires an interactive window station. To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.'' I clicked 'reinstall driver' and window pops up saying "Windows found driver software for Roxio Video Capture USB but encountered error upon trying to install. Requires interactive window station." Any further suggestions will be much appreciated!!

Without knowing your OS & the Version of your software it isn't easy to get a picture...

Best thing you can do with that driver file you downloaded is DELETE IT!!! You keep using it and I told you it cannot possibly apply to your version, but it can get in the way!

Windows says it's ready? You really believe that?

For the version of software, Read the very first pinned post at the top.

Hello Jim,

Thank You for your time. The version of the software I have is Build 201B23A...My Operating System is Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. I deleted the driver file as you said. When windows told me the driver was ready for use, yes, I did believe that, I have had no reason or bad experience with Windows that would lead me to not believe. Maybe I shouldn't have so much trust in Windows, and possibly something you can help me educate myself on in the future. For now, may you please advise me further on my situation. I am really trying everything, and all of your help and time is truly appreciated. If you need me to post more information, I will do so. Thanks

There is NO DRIVER you can download that is meant for the Version you have…

Read the pinned post up top by cdanteek, compare the pictures to your system.

Connect a DVD Player to the device as they have good stable signals.

Hello,

I have gone through all the suggestions for my problem, and I still have not found the solution. Please help. I have made sure my system meets requirements. I have defragmented my hard drive. I have checked to be sure that I have the latest video card driver. I have installed the driver for the USB capture device 2861 and it reads "ready to use". I have tried using a DVD player just to see if I could get a signal. I have uninstalled the driver for the USB capture device and uninstalled the entire program, then installed the USB capture device 2861 before installing the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD program to see if that helps, still No Video Signal. This is getting very ridiculous for me to have to spend this much time to get a "simple" program to work. Please advise. Thank You
