Problems Copying Dvd

moez

Question

I have a video that I created using Adobe Premier Elements 8.0 that I am trying to copy using Easy CD and DVD Burning Home (ver 10.3.104) on Vista.

I created the original DVD using Premier Elements and am attempting to copy it to memorex DVD+R 4.7GB DVD's using the "copy disc" feature. The DVD is quite large (4.2 GB).

This copy feature works for me about once out of every six times. The other 5 times, it will run for a while and then stop, telling me that the burn was unsuccessful. When I look at the "advanced" tab, it lists the following:

Sense: 00 ASC: 00 ASCQ: 00 (Command 00)

-------------------------------------------------------

Px.dll: 4.16.15.0

PxAFS.DLL: 4.16.15.0

pxdrv.dll: 1.2.47.0

PxMas.dll: 4.16.15.0

PxSFS.DLL: 4.16.15.0

PxWave.dll: 4.16.15.0

pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

I have updated the firmware in my lightscribe DVD writer and still get the same results.

If anyone has any ideas as to what might be causing my problem, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks!

Thank you for the response. It is odd, it seems to die off at varying spots in the process - sometimes it almost finishes, sometimes about halfway.

I have about 100 of the Memorex... I guess, I'll see if I can get my 18 or so good copies out of them...

Any ideas as how to interpret the error codes?

Thanks!

A 'sense error' is something that your Drive is reporting... Can be a problem from the Drive or a problem the Drive is having with the Media or a combination of the 2.

An alternate to the direct Copy is to use the Create Disc Image then burn the resulting .gi file with Burn Disc Image to Disc.

By breaking into 2 seperate steps, it seems to work better...

No additional sense information When the error code is all zeros, there are many cases where the error code the drive produces is not received by the application due to an unstable connection or interference from running programs. If the problem is not solved when you try the suggested actions, get your drive checked.

I would also suggest finding your drive ID in device manager and looking for new firmware. # 2 in my signature below. Read and follow firmware flashing instructions or you can damage your drive beyond repair!
