Capture Monitor Video

smolins

Question

I thought I read in a Roxio advert that Creator 2011 could capture whatever video was playing on your monitor. Ie: If I was playing an old show on Hulu in full screen it could save it in some video format (mpg or whatever.) I've scoured the User's Guide and can not find the relevant procedure.

Can someone help me or did I misconstrue what I read?

Thanks -

Stephen

I'm not sure where you read that. It will capture SOME content from YouTube but not all. It works with some Browsers better than other. I don;t know if it will capture from HULU. Post a link and we'll try.

Open Copy and Convert Video and you will see the options to capture internet video.

Just grabbed some news clip from HULU. I resize it to fit full screen. I'm not familiar with that Creator module but didn't have much luck converting.

I don't have something that works. I thought you asked for a link. I can't get Creator to convert what is on the screen. (Ie: the link I supplied.)

Did I misunderstand what you wrote here?

"Just grabbed some news clip from HULU. I resize it to fit full screen"

That sounds like you grabbed (downloaded) it and then watched it in full screen.

I tried a couple of videos from the HUKU site including the one you linked to and I could not get them to capture using 3 different Browsers. I have no problem with most on YouTube.

OK - Thank you. Unless some shows are on YouTube, I'm out of luck. Thanks again for trying.

HULU videos can not be captured. They use a proprietary internet protocol or something.

Thanks. I'll stop beating my head against the wall for HULU.

Another question though - when I go to the "Video Copy & Convert" module and click on the "Web Video" button, another window opens and says "Launch your browser to start vierwing and downloading web video." I launch IE from my icon but nothing happens in the Web Video window. All the buttons (Select All, Deselect All, Add) are all non-operative. HOw do I get content in that window?

Thank you -

Stephen

Did you navigate to and start the video you want to cpature? It will start downloading automatically. The buttons you see are for adding them to the project you will create. BTW, they are temp files and will continue to show up until you delete them.

How do I get content in that window?

They don't appear until they are downloaded and cached, the longer the video is the longer it takes for them to show in that window.

They will stay in Video Copy and Convert until cookies and cache are deleted.
