Video Import Stops After 31-32 Seconds

kingpax

Question

Help anyone? My new Roxio 11 Pro Video import software freezes and/or pauses my Sony digital 8 after 31-32 seconds of import. No matter which way I import i.e., Capture Video, Capture Entire Tape or Set Capture Length it will only suck in that amount. The first tape I put in I did the Smartscan on it but every tape I put in now does the exact same thing stops the import and I have to manually restart the process again and 31 seconds later it stops the import again. I know it's not a computer issue as I have a new Dell Studio XPS 8100 with Intel i7 CPU 2.8GHz and 8GB pf RAM. 1T hard drive running Windows 7 64 bit. I have tried both the AVI and the MPEG-2 import settings and I'm saving to my hard drive. I ran my Video Import starting and stopping every 32 seconds for 6 minutes and I ended up with 13 thumbnails of videos. Does anyone have an answer to this! Talk about a frustrating experience for expensive software!

Have you tried another input source?

This is a known issue with older camcorders. I have a Sony TRV 740 and it does the same thing. The same camcorder worked fine in previous versions so this is a new issue in 2011. Download WINDV which is free. It works with older camcorders and you can then import those files into Videowave or MyDVD.
