Question

i cant watch or burn cd,dvd's on my player i keep getting this notice

MY DVD HAS DETECTED THAT DMA IS TURNED OFF FOR ONE OR MORE OF THE RECORDING DEVICES

ATTACHED TO THE SYSTEM.

IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY WRITE TO THE DEVICE,DMA SHOULD BE TURNED ON.

REFER TO YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM MANUAL OR USE WINDOW'S HELP FOR

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS.

I have tried to find the answer and cannot find what im looking for

can anyone help me please.

Which operating system are you using, Jude? [what version of Windows]

 

Windows has a scheme where it will detect if a drive is having trouble with I/O and sort of 'change gear down' from Direct Memory Access [DMA] to a slower speed called PIO. Unfortunately it doesn't automatically change up again when the problem is cleared and you're left trying to drive on the freeway while stuck in bottom gear.

 

If you tell me what version of Windows you're running I should be able to show you how to reset this.
