Sony Dcr-Hc62

Question

I have a Sony DCR-HC62 camcorder and Creator 2010. I can download video from the camera using the Roxio easy VHS to DVD package. However, Creator 2010 when I try to import video using Smart Scan the software does not see the camera. Any ideas? Thanks.

What operating system?

If you need a Firewire cable, just go to the nearest big box store. Roxio does not supply them. Did you order one when you bought your camcorder? Does it have the correct pin arrangement?

I am new to Creator and this camcorder. This is all new to me trying to capture and edit the video. I used the video tutorials in Creator but didn't see the same screens when I tried to capture the video. After using the USB cable I figured I didn't have the correct cable so Creator could work properly with the camera. Thanks.

Of course you need the correct cable, probably a Mini FireWire on one end and Regular on the other.

You need to make sure you PC even has a FireWire :o (FireWire, iLink, 1394, etc. all mean the same thing)

If you press Win-Pause and Select Device Manger:

(This is Win7 but Vista is similar)

Expand IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers:

If you got one it will be located there!

Let us know how you make out. ;)
