Size Differences?

tassj

Question

I'm new to mac and toast (and am not particularly tech savvy either) so apologies in advance for the nooby questions.

I am using Toast 10 Titanium, trying to burn a plain non-bootable ISO image to a DL, the size is 7.25 GB, but in Toast it only comes up as 6.75 GB on the Summary, and down the bottom its saying 5.88 GB on 1 disc, 2.08 space remaining. I am too cheap to waste a disc so i didn't want to press burn  lol. Also I've tried this on ExpressBurn + Burn, and all including Toast are saying they don't recognize the format but it is clearly ISO???? Toast is the only programme that allows me to continue... I'm in the Copy -> Image File section, DVD DL is selected, unticked Use Fit-to-DVD. What am I doing wrong, or is it right and am I an idiot?

That is confusing. I can understand the .iso being a slightly different size than its contents, so the information in the Copy window doesn't concern me. But I don't understand why that is different from what is at the bottom. You might try trashing the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunching Toast. Other users have found the information at the bottom being wrong because of a corrupted plist file.

One thing you can do is to use "Compare..." in the Utilities window to compare the source with the burned DVD. You also could choose Save as Disc Image for the comparison if you don't want to take the chance of wasting a disc.

Deleted the plist, relaunched Toast, but didn't seem to do anything. I chose Save as Disc Image, which seemed to work fine, but when i used the Compare option, it said there was a size mismatch, although the .toast image appears to be the exact same size as the original iso. Also the .toast image has the exact same results (doesn't recognize format, bottom doesn't match summary). I guess all i can do is stop being cheap and just try it, right? Thank you so much for your time :D
