Roxio Creator 2009 Special Edition Issues With Capturing Hi8 Tapes: Error Message

WOODHAVEN

Question

I have had this program for about a year and a half and have never had time to use it. I was laid off this week and now have all the time in the world but the program is not working properly.

I have contacted "TECH Support" to find they don't support 'Legacy' products unless you want to shell out $2 aminute with no guarantees. I am turning to you Digital Gurus for assistance..............and I appreciate anything you can do to help.

Here is my operating system information:

Dell Studio 540

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33ghz

8GB RAM

64 bit operating system

Windows Vista Home Premium SP2

Nvidia 8600 GT video card

I receive the following error mesage while trying to capture video from my old ES8400V Canon 8mm Camcorder:

Runtime Error

Program 2009...Special Edition\Media impot 11\Mediacapture11.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way

Please contact the applications support teams for more information

I have already done the clean uninstall/reinstall only to get the new error message above but I amflexible and will do what you instruct me to do to fix the issue.

Have you did a clean uninstall reinstall like # 12 in my signature?

The down arrow in the systray looks like something is downloading a update.

If you click on it does it bring up anything?

Is it only there when you open Roxio? Gone when you close Roxio?

Explain in detail how your connected, capturing, and what application your using?

Yes means you followed # 12 exactly didn't add anything or skip anything?

http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?q=application%20has%20requested%20the%20runtime%20to%20terminate

Would that be Roxio Media Import?

Have you tried composite cables and under options is it set correctly?

Could you quote the post and then answer below the quote?

It is very hard to figure out what your answering to inside of the quote.

If this is a error it's different than your original post error, explain yourself please.

Read it, it says it's already running. Do you keep trying to open it? Quit clicking and give it some time the first time.

The down arrow in the systray is from Roxio media Import. It doesn't say that like mine does because yours is not responding.

Complete Uninstall of Creator 2009 and 2010 (Windows Vista and 7)

Knowledgebase Article : 000207CR | Print this Article

Issue

How to uninstall Creator 2009 and 2010 on Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Resolution

The following steps will completely remove any Roxio and Sonic software from your computer.

Note: The removal of Creator 2009 from Windows 7 is provided for customers who are upgrading from Vista to Windows 7, and wish to install Creator 2010, which is Windows 7 certified. Creator 2009 is not compatible with Windows 7. To see a full list of Windows 7 compatible products, click here.

1. Disable your startup applications using MSCONFIG. This will disable any unnecessary background or system tray applications from loading.

* Go to Start and type "msconfig" (without quotes) into the Start Search field and press the "Enter" key.

* Select the Startup tab.

* Click the Disable All button.

* Click the Apply button, then click the OK button.

* Click the Restart button.

To reverse this at the end of installation, go back into MSCONFIG and select Enable All and restart (that can be done once installation is complete).

Note: Some anti virus/spyware programs may not be disabled using the steps listed above. You may need to check with your anti virus/spyware vendor on how to temporarily disable them.

2. Remove Creator 2009 through the Programs Control Panel.

* Go to Start -> Control Panel

* Under Programs, click Uninstall a program

* Click Roxio Creator 2009, then click Uninstall above the Name column.

3. For the step below you will need to show hidden files. This can be done by clicking Start -> My Computer then go up and click on Organize -> Folder and Search Options. Click on the View tab. Make sure show hidden folders is selected and click Apply.

4. Delete these folders from your hard drive. Not all folders may be present.

NOTE: When trying this step you may receive a message that a "file is in use". Simply drag that file to your desktop and it can be removed after restarting the computer. Also note that "Username" referred to below is the name you use when logging into Windows Vista.

C:\Program Data\Roxio

C:\Program Data\Sonic

C:\Program Files\Roxio

C:\Program Files\Roxio Creator 2009 (may include "Special Edition" or "Ultimate")

C:\Program Files(x86)\Roxio - (x64 bit systems only)

C:\Program Files(x86)\Roxio Creator 2009 (..) - x64

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Local\RoxioCentralFX

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Roaming\Roxio

C:\Users\Username\App Data\Local\Roxio (x86/x64)

Empty the recycle bin once the steps above are completed.

5. Remove these keys from the registry:

WARNING: THE NEXT STEP INVOLVES EDITING YOUR SYSTEM REGISTRY. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU EXPORT YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY EDITING. EDITING YOUR REGISTRY INCORRECTLY CAN CAUSE IRREPARABLE SYSTEM DAMAGE.
