We don’t know anything of your PC Spec?

We don't know your OS?

We don’t know if you even have a burner or what media you are trying to use?

We don’t know what Version of software you have?

And we have no idea what you have tried???

But if you fill in the blanks, we might be able to help ;)

Thanks for the reply--I will try to fill in the blanks

1.--I have a new gateway "all in on computer" from best buy--I can't give you all the numbers about it but prior to buying the Roxio software I asked the best buy people if the computer had all the requirements for the software and they assured me it did//

2. I have Windows 7

3. The computer has a built in DVD drive--burner that I use--

4. I have the latest Roxio--vhs-dvd software from best buy bought a week ago

5. I have tried what the roxio web site recommended--ie--I updated my drivers,I disabled the antivirus software,etc//then I tried once again to copy a vhs tape and then the same error continues to show up//

I am not aware of being able to copy the vhs tape to my hard drive and I never see a video list -- I don't know if this is something I should be seeing but a previous post mentioned this as a problem//

Thanks again

That’s really very little help :(

You have an unknown PC made by Gateway and sold to you by Best Buy…

The Salespeople assured you that… – your kidding, right? Actually most PC’s do meet the specs of this software but it really helps to know what we are dealing with. Use the lists I have in my signature block as an example.

Also it would be good to know the Free Space on your HDD. I know it is new, but you have to have a lot of free space for recording and temp files, etc..

Have you have actually burned a DVD with that drive?

You have “the latest Roxio” software that they sold you? What is the Version Number! Versions

With the device inserted, check the Drivers against the pictures in THIS post. They must match!

Additionally, what media (brand & type) are you using?

Are you using ‘Record DVD’ or ‘Record, Edit & Save’, when you tried this?

The error message is pretty vague, so we have to look at all the possible reasons for this occcur ;)
