Question

I think roxio came in on the back end of Verizon Blackberry desk manager. We have tried many forums to get the answer to uninstall. We had the same problem years ago with roxio. We had to format our hard drive to cure our problem. If I have to do it again Verizon is going to have to pay me since I bought a phone not this issue. Type "roxio virus" in google search and you will see that it's not only me with this problem.

Your solution to this problem can help many.

I found that REVO Uninstaller (free) used in the Moderate Mode is helpful to remove all programs. They even have a Pro that will remove partially installed programs.

I did Google for Roxio virus and found several OLD references to an overzeleous anit-virus application seeing some Roxio registry entries as typical of virus. They were not. Having any anti-virus running when you install ANY software is a bad idea.

If it came with your phone contact the phone provider that bundled the OEM software with your phone.

Oh yes it came with cell phone! Strange as it may seem for Verizon wants nothing to do with this issue. I felt it only be correct to contact Roxio and give them the opportunity to solve this problem. Roxio came with no notification when installing Rim Blackberry desktop manager. if you do the standard installation you have no notification that Roxio is hiding in the back ground. And as 10 or 15 years ago Roxio has the same I got you installation. Back then I had to reinstall free computers to get rid of Roxio. I am asking how do you get Roxio of the system.

I have 40 pages of documentation on the belligerent corruption that this program has done to my computer. when searching on the Internet I find countless people going back to 2006 that had been begging for mercy in regards to having their computer capture by a piece of software that is supposed to be legit. At least you would think so being as it's tied in with Blackberry and Verizon.

My losses to date are well over $8000 hours due to a program that snuck in on the backside of a Blackberry installation. I feel that Roxio, Rim and Verizon all have a responsibility and must be accountable. I am trying to be as pleasant as possible in this matter. But if I have ever seen a matter deserving of a class action suit this is it.

I believe that the OP is so outraged that the OP can't or will not read the responses and suggestions. 'tis a pitty. Also going back to a previous issue does not help solve this one.

I would like to see those postings where a Roxio program caused a belligerent corruption. What did Blackberry (RIM) say - not Roxio; not Verizon? By the way if you are using Windows (any version), then you have some Roxio designed applications.

Hi Amerifax -

I think you are talking about the Roxio Media Manager that is installed with Blackberry Desktop. When installing, there is an option *not* to install it. It also installs successfully for many, many customers. Unfortunately, those people never create a post on the internet for things that are running great ;)

BlackBerry Support resolves Roxio Media Manager issues. I just helped a customer over the internet with an issue similar to yours and it worked for him the first time. I sent him this link to the BlackBerry forums, which actually references one of our own Roxio Forum Guru's:

Please give this a shot and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Jon

The only thing in error, on that Blackberry forum post is, Beerman isn't a Roxio employee. The post states that he is.
