Roxio Creator 2011 Pro - Itunes Interferes With It

SthrnDixieCwgrl

Question

I have been able to use Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 to create DVD movies (where if you go to Start>Computer and then right-click on the optical drive and click open and then be able to see a folder labled as VIDEO_TS) by going to Video>Compile DVDs and Movies and the Roxio Video Copy & Convert window opens. Then I add the file/files I need and then click the Burn... button.

I also have Roxio 2010 Pro and Roxio Creator 2011 Pro and cannot figure out how to do the same thing in Roxio 2010 Pro and 2011 Pro that I did with Roxio EMC 10.

I was surprised I was even able to get Roxio EMC 10 to work with Windows 7 64-bit even though it is out-dated and no longer getting updates.

Where can I find the information I need to be able to do the same thing I was doing in Roxio EMC 10, but be able to do them in both Roxio Creator 2010 Pro and Roxio Creator 2011 Pro.

I installed Creator 2011 Pro on a system using Windows 7 64-bit and every time I use the Video Copy & Convert feature iTunes opens and no matter how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled Creator 2011 iTunes opens when I use 2011. I have tried doing a clean uninstall of Roxio 2011. Then I restarted the system. Then I removed the registry entries. Then I uninstalled iTunes. Then Video Copy & Convert had no issues. Then I reinstalled iTunes. I opened Video Copy & Convert and iTunes opens. This issue needs a service pack or something to fix it.

Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility does not exist on the Microsoft site and therefore I cannot use it. If I cannot get it from Microsoft then I cannot use it.

Did you read step #1 in post #41? We all know the cleanup utility is no longer available from Microsoft

We've already told you how to fix it but you said you could not do anything that was not from Microsoft's web site. therefore you would not use the Microsoft Installer Clean up Utility.

I think your problem is that you are running this program with emulated Windows. According to your signature you have;

"MacBook Pro 15-inch (Mid-2010)/2.53GHz i5/4GB RAM

Mac OS X 10.6.5/Windows 7 Home Premium x64

Roxio Creator 2010 Pro/Roxio Creator 2011 Pro"

One more time. Have you gone to microsoft and run their "Fix It" program? Also here.

Why are you running Windows programs on an Apple computer?

How many more times are you going to post the same post word for word? Now it is even consecutive posts in the same thread.

The problem is iTunes. Tell them to issue a Service Pack since they are the ones interfering with C2011.

I'm not sure why this happens. I have a W7 x64 system with 2011 and iTunes and never have seen this happen.

Does it open iTunes just starting the program (VC&C) or after it's open and you choose a file to convert? If it happens when you choose the file to convert, is that file an .mp4? I'm wondering if the file may be a type that is set as a default for iTunes.

I went to Start>All Programs>Roxio 2011>Applications and then click on Video Copy & Convert and I get the message that starts with This product or software may be used to assist you in reproducing material and then that is when iTunes opens and then I close iTunes. Then a few seconds later iTunes opens again and I close it again. I am doing this every few seconds.

Why did you mnot follow the instructions that I layed out in post 41? I even bulleted the instructions so you would do one step at a time.

Also search this part of the forum for issues installing Creat9r 2011 in W7 compatibility mode.

I have too much stuff in iTunes to uninstall and reinstall iTunes

Dear Southern Dixie Cowgirl,

From the start I see you are afraid to uninstall itunes.

When you uninstall itunes you will not delete your stuff. You will just remove the active software. When reinstalling itunes it will scan your computer and find your stuff again.

You might be uncertain still. So, next step is that please send an email to itunes and ask their confirmation for uninstalling itunes without losing your file storage. They will answer in two days I think.

Like many others I think uninstalling itunes now is first thing to do. And it will take less time than trying many other ways. And before reinstalling this kind of large programs always reboot the computer.

I found theComplete uninstall instructions for Creator 2011 (http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000274CR&PARAMS=set-locale=en) and followed them. Then I went to CompleteUninstall of Creator 9 & 10 on Windows Vista ( http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000127CR&PARAMS=set-locale=en) and followed the part where it said to delete certain folders from certaindirectories, empty the recycle bin, then delete the following entries from theregistry. Then it said to restart the systemand re-install Creator 2011. I didthat. Then it said to restart the systemand I did. Then I went to Start>AllPrograms>Roxio 2011>Applications and clicked on Video Copy &Convert. Then iTunes opened. It seems no matter what I try, when usingthis specific feature from Creator 2011 on a system that uses Windows 7 64-bit,iTunes wants to open. I don’tunderstand. Why does this happen on asystem that has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that was brand new when I got thesystem 10 months, but when using the same feature on a system using WindowsVista Home Premium SP2 32-bit that was brand new when I got that system 3 yearsago. Did I miss something here.

Post #37 of this thread gave you instructions to follow. REMOVE iTunes, then clean install/uninstall (semantics) the Roxio software, via the links in that post, then install Creator 2011 only, and see if it works okay, you then install the iTunes again, and pray it doesn't screw up the Roxio software.

I never said it was resolved. I said I was able to get it to work on a system that has Vista and iTunes on it without iTunes constantly opening when using it. I never said I got it to work on a system that has Windows 7 and iTunes on it without iTunes constantly opening when using it. That issue still exists.

I installed Roxio Creator 2011 on a system that has Vista SP2 and iTunes already on it. After I installed Roxio I did a restart. Then I opened Video Copy & Convert and guess what did NOT open with it. I am starting to wonder if 2001 is more Vista friendly than it is with Windows 7.

So you are saying that the issue is resolved? Great, we can close out this guessing game!

OK read this carefully. There are several different steps and each one is important. You may want to aks for help from one of your friends if you are not sure about folloing the drirections. Have them look over your shoulder and read the driections while you preform them.

Download and install Microsoft Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to remove Roxio and Sonic software.

1) Google for it; it is not longer available directly from Microsoft.Scroll down to and click on Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now.

2) Click on Save and choose to save it on your Desktop.

3) On your Desktop, double-click on msicuu2.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions to install.

4) Click on Start --> All programs --> Windows Install Clean up.

5) Select (if you can find it) DirectXInstallService.

6) Click on Remove.

The above should remove any traces of EMC 10.

1) Download REVO Uninstaller.

2) Open it. Look for any and all Roxio and/or sonic applications that show up.

3) Uninstall all of those using the MODERTATE MODE. The built in uninstaller will run and then it will ask you to continue, do so to remove all the entries it finds

4) Agree to remove all the associated registry entries. There will be a llot of them. Don't worry aabout the number adn the times it takes to do it.

5) Re-boot your computer.

6) Check to make sure ITunes is woring properly.

7) Update your computer using these suggestions. Use this link. DO NOT SKIP ANYTHING. Ask for help if you run into something you don't understand.

8) TURN off your anti-virus; not just pause it.

9) Reinstall Creator 2011.

That should work. It will take about 1 hour depending on the state of your computer.

iTunes stays.

Complete Uninstall of Creator 9 & 10 on Windows XP does not work since I do not have Windows NT 5.1 and I have 6.1 which mean I cannot follow those instructions. It wants me to go to C:\Documents and Settings and I don't have that.

I have no clue what the hell you are talking about, but I hope that the folks, who continue to try to help you, get you squared away.

Good luck to you. I am out of here.

Let me try add/remove programs again. I uninstalled everything Roxio related and restarted the system and did not see EMC 10 installed. Then I installed Creator 2011 and restarted Windows. Then I went to open Video Copy & Convert and iTunes still opens.

Is it possible for you to live without the gd iTunes, until you get this resolved?

I think that the patience, of the folks who are trying to help you, is wearing thin. Start by dumping the damned iTunes, then follow the instructions here:

http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/Creator/000086CR&PARAMS=

If you have Vista, scroll down to the bottom of the above link, and click on Vista.

That should help totally getting rid of the EMC 10 version.

Now, follow the instructions, in the following link, to get rid of the Creator 2011 software:

http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/000274CR&PARAMS=set-locale=en

Don't skip any steps, and let us know how it goes for you. If all is fine, install iTunes again. I have it running, and I have 4 versions of the Roxio software installed, and I don't have a problem with any of them.

This is post #33 in post # 11 I told you to do this!

Well EMC 10 is not compatible with windows 7. So I would start by clean uninstalling all Roxio software and reinstalling C2011 for now and see what happens. Follow each uninstall for each version, use Vista for EMC 10.

Links in my signature..

Now the question is can you follow those instructions?

Truthfully, I would say it is doubtful. :(
