Creator 2010 is the FIRST version that is Win7 compatible...

As I mentioned, there are some OEM's, using a modified EMC 10.3 that work in Win7. But unless they were included, they are not worth seaking out.

Where does the Redbox Easy CD and DVD Burning 10.3.104 fit into your picture, Jim?

It's not an OEM, is it, yet it is modified to work under Windows 7 ?

'Unless they were included' in what? You have me puzzled.

Regards,

Brendon

Flyfisherman,

You haven't told us just WHAT your old software is [name and version number] so you'll have to work it out for yourself. The splash screen when loading should tell you what you have, and the 'Help > About this software' in Creator Classic gives an accurate version number.

Running under XP

-ALL versions of the 'Redbox' Easy CD and DVD Burning software are cut-down Easy Media Creator, so ANY FULL version of Easy Media Creator will be 'better'.

-There are OEM versions of EMC out there such as "Creator DE" or "Creator Business". These are all cut-down, but I don't have a list of their various disabilities so I can't rank them.

-The software tends to get better with time, so versions 9 or 10 are better than 6.

-Up to version 9 has Drag-to-Disc, version 10 does not.

Running under Windows 7

-for Redbox you need the latest, 10.3, with Win 7 compatibility logo on the box

-for the Creator suites you need Creator 2010 or newer.

Does this help you?

Thanks for the info guys, "Director" is Cyberlinks Power Director 9" I am looking at both web sites and got a tad off base.

One of you mentioned that the new version is watered down, is my old version that is 3 to 5 years older than the one I bought last summer............. better?

I know that, but should I install the old version on my 2006 intel dual computer or let the newer verson on it?

Does it really matter if it is "better", it does not work with Win 7.

He has a new PC and it could have an OEM version which would be 10.3.

ALL 10.3 versions are Win7 Compatible but carry different release numbers after the 10.3.

By "Easy" I guess you're referring to "Easy CD and DVD Burning". [The guy who called CD and DVD burning 'easy' was a salesman]

The older version is a reduced-function subset of Easy Media Creator 9, and won't run under Windows 7.

The newer version is a reduced-function subset of Easy Media Creator 10, and has been modified to run under Windows 7.

I don't have any idea what 'Director' is, so I can't answer that question either, sorry.

I think thought that it would build customer service and loyalty if they offered an inexpensive upgrade at least to folks that bought the other version within one year?

They do with the major versions of their software, but Easy CD and DVD Burning [the 'Red Box'] is a cut-down version of older software at a greatly reduced price.

No "upgrade" ~ it's a $30 software package...

Win7 was not free either, I paid $150 for a 3 pack deal!

Thanks Jim: I will just do my disk stuff on the old comp, works great

Thanks for the input

The front of the box will have the Win7 Compatibility notice in the lower right corner:

Likewise, my label, on the bottom, is not the same as yours...

I suspect you do not have the Win7 version. Did you new PC come with some sort of Burning software??? I know Roxio makes a 10.3 OEM for many manufactures and it is very similar to the Red Box version.
