Creator 2011 Backontrack. Recovery Disc

sr320

Question

Hi,

I have Creator 2011 and would like to make backup of entire computer.

I did that but BoT did not make recovery disc and I could not found the

way how to make it. Without recovery disc entire computer backup is

useless. Or Not?

So, how I create recovery disc with BcakOnTrack from Creator 2011?

Thanks

SR320,

The refund offer is amazing. I think if I were in your shoes I might grab the offer and then buy Pro, if you want to be able to get a version of BOT which will backup a disk or partition.

Brendon. that's exactly what I'm going to do :)

Thanks

Just got final answer from Roxio support team! Wow!

"Considering the extensive, unsuccessful trouble shooting attempts of your problem

we are unable to offer you any further solutions for your issue and will have to

discontinue any further support.

We have therefore created an exceptional refund for your order ..."

Roxio support guys should definitely use Roxio community forum for answers! :D

Now that this is pretty much put to rest I want to add 1 more thing.

I have the same version and build as Jim and on mine I can go to Tools at the top of the window and my choice is "Create Bootable Recovery Disc".

So,there's 1 more thing to think about,or know.

And I'm pretty sure this install was from the boxed disc after I clean installed Win 7.

Nope, it did not! It goes directly to contents selection.

That is puzzle for me! And I tried that on two different computers I have.

The same result. Both have windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. Installation are

default.

I tried on Creator without Update and with. It did not work.

I do not have any idea why!

Jim

Thanks for you help and ideas! Here is what I got. After that just contents selection! No Recovery disc pop up.

I'm trying to contact Roxio support but it seems they do not know too ... :(

BTW do you have regular or Pro version of Creator?

My version from C2011 Pro shows this when I click Help > About. What does yours show, sr320??

Also, if you look at the top left of the selector box mine calls itself "BackOnTrack", while yours calls itself "Roxio BackOnTrack"

It looks as if your version doesn't support full Disk or Partition backup. If that's so, that's dirty!. Why is the option showing in the selector box, and why isn't the reduced function of this version advertised?

Perhaps that's why Support haven't been able to clarify the situation. Marketing hasn't told them either?

:angry2::blink::huh:

Well, there is one small but useless consolation sr320, if that's the case you don't NEED a recovery disc. :glare:

Sad regards,

Brendon

Terry,

You and Jim and I all have the same version - Pro - and can create the recovery disc.

SR320 has the standard version, so cannot create the recovery disc. [support should have known/asked that]

Steve Knis,

That error message and its grammar don't have anything to do with this topic, do they?

SR320,

Hello,

If you run BoT and go as if to make a complete drive backup you will first be given the opportunity to make a Recovery Disc.

You burn the recovery disc and then cancel the operation.

I can provide step-by-step instructions if you can't get there alone.

Brendon

Brendon,

Thanks for you reply.

I did 'One-Click Backup' -> Entire Computer

I did backup to USB Hard Drive. BoT did not suggest me

to make Recovery Disc. It went directly to creating

my discs images on USB drive.

I tried to do 'Advanced Backup' -> 'Disk or Partition' -> 'Entire Computer'

The same result.

Might be BoT version in Creator 2011 are different from

BoT Suite?

I can provide screen shots

SR320,

This IS the BackOnTrack from Creator 2011.

Run BackOnTrack, select as destination a disk that isn't part of the source. Click Advanced Backup

Select Disk or Partition, then Create a new backup

The box then pops up which asks if you want to make a bootable recovery disc. You can use this disc repeatedly, as it doesn't change.

Regards,

Brendon
