Creator 2011 Pro Video Capture

rch0425

Question

I am trying to capture a VHS tape in Creator 2011 Pro, using Windows 7 Home Premium, Systemax AMD Phenom 9550 with 8gb memory and 4.6T disk storage utilizing Canopus ADVC300 digital video device. At start of capture, I receive the error message shown in the Topic Description every time. When I look at the detail, I also find a message that "Template Manager returned an error". Of course there is no error message or hint as to what this means, but I cannot capture my VHS tape with one of the most sophisticated capture devices on the market! Any suggestions as to what causes this problem? All of my drivers are up to date and I can use this device with other software. However, I prefer to use Creator 2011 Pro, if it works.

Two questions:

1: are you using EMC 10 (which is this forum) or Creator 2011?

2: Have you tried getting Windows 7 drivers?

From what I can find out, Canopus was taken over by Grass Valley and they are not providing support for the card

This from their website:

Many customers have been asking when products sold by Grass Valley’s Desktop and Enterprise Solutions (DES) division will support Windows 7. Grass Valley has been testing and qualifying products with Windows 7 and is continuing to do so. This document is a status update of this testing. Future dates and schedules mentioned in this document are subject to change without notice.

Most DES products also support Windows XP and Windows Vista. In addition, ADVC products with a FireWire (IEEE 1394) port are compatible with many versions of MacOS including versions 10.5 and 10.6. For full specifications of which operating systems are supported for each product, please consult the specific product current data sheet or our website at www.grassvalley.com/products/professional.

Also, can you capture in Windows Movie Maker?

"Compatible with leading editing and DVD authoring applications including Grass Valley™ EDIUS®, Sony Vegas, Apple Final Cut Pro and iMovie, Avid Xpress DV and Liquid, Adobe Premiere Pro, Ulead MediaStudio Pro, and Windows Movie Maker"

It's possible the Roxio suite just doesn't recognise the card and you may have to use the Grass Valley software to import it first
