Menus & Chapter Links

Tahira

Question

I am posting in the hopes I may be able to find the missing link to chapter menus. To any Guru who responds please don’t chastise me for my lack of Forum etiquette. I am a newbie and this is my third posting. I’m posting in Roxio 2011. While using My DVD from Roxio 2011 Creator, I don’t have the function to connect all chapters. I was asked if I made chapters? Yes and I’m able to fast-forward to them. There is no box in the edit chapter window at the bottom of the page to check. Included is a printscreen from the chapter edit window of which I speak. Oh while I’m posting in 2011 the video was uploaded with Roxio easy VHS to DVD. I was asked which program do I “really” have. The correct answer is both and they are both registered. Hope I have included enough information to shed light on the subject. So that anyone can help me with a solution I have also included My Computer Specs:OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Name SONY Vaio System Manufacturer Sony Corporation System Model VGC-RB53 System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~3000 Mhz Free hard drive space 245.00GB total 559.59GB Available Physical Memory990.70 MB Available Virtual Memory1.96 GB RAM 2GB Last Window update 1/12/2011

You are in the wrong "Edit Chapters" menu!

In the Project View window, you have the Movies tab selected. You should have the Menus tab selected and the movie. Then select the Edit Chapter. You should now have the checkbox

I believe I have gone to the Menus tab and selected the movie. Then I selected the Edit Chapter. Sorry but I still don't have a checkbox.t

Your picture shows you trying to create chapters for the Intro movie. This is not possible. The Intro movie plays before the Main menu appears and you cannot have chapters for it. It should be only a short video clip, at most a couple of minutes.

You have to add the main movie and that is the one for which you create chapters.

Is the intro movie really a menu? Where the disc is located is that where I place the feature? t

No, the Intro movie is not the menu. It is a short video clip that you can have that plays before the menu appears. You can compare it to a commercial movie where you have a movie that playes before the titles, etc appears. It is not necessar and should not be the main movie.

I think you should forget about the Intro movie altogether.

Start a New project and select your menu styles. Then simply use the Add Movie task to add the movie. That will create a menu item on the menu page.

Thank you so much. The box is present and checked to link chapters/buttons on the menu. I'm still working on the project but I feel I've crossed a big hurdle. Again Thank You. t.
