Vhs To Dvd Transfers Ii

Brian66

Question

I'm using a very old VCR Optimus Model 16-534 (Radio Shack). It has only one RCA Video Out plug and one RCA Audio Out plug.

1. I see activity in only one audio channel representation so I assume the two plug device provided with 'easy VHS to DVD' is to accept stereo audio output?

2. Is there no way to send my transferred video to a location on my hard disc so I can break it at certain points? My DVD media holds only 4.7GB - 120 minutes. I see no way to make successive DVDs, like 2 hours on the first one and 1 hour on the second one. What am I missing?

3. I started recording to a test DVD than I wanted to quit and start over, but the program seems to have no abort mechanism. I'm using RW media so I should be able to stop the procedure and re-start from the beginning by simply recording over the old data. Is this an option? If so, where do I find the procedure described?

Thank you.

The latest version, 201B, allows the least amount of user options… You did not say, so I have no idea what you have :(

1. Yes, a splitter will allow you to capture the Audio on both Left & Right.

2. All versions allow you Capture and edit later. In 201B, Edit is minimal and you cannot "save"…

A DVD holds about 1 hour of quality video. Any more, and the Video degrades rapidly!

3. With Edit, you can Preview but using RW media for testing is the best way to go for testing with any editor! Of course you never use RW media for your permanent recording!!! :o

Thanks for your reply. I just am not ready to spend much time on a learning curve. Too much else is demanding attention right now so this will have to wait until I am less busy.

My installation is 201B23A. Are you saying that it offers only minimal features and I need something else?

My limited experience with this program leaves me rather cold. It's not very intuitive and I find it difficult to follow what should be obvious. The Trim feature doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Where exactly is the editing taking place? On my hard drive? If so, and I try to save the trimmed file, I get either no trimmed file or a blank file.

It would seem that all the editing should occur on the hard drive, and when I'm satisfied with it - after viewing it from the hard drive - I should be able to commit it to the DVD. Is that the way it's supposed to work, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

As I said, I can only work with this a few minutes at a time. If I have to spend hours on it, I'm afraid it'll join some other "good ideas not ready for prime time" to which I am no stranger.

Thanks for your comments. I know, when all else fails, read the directions ... but when I don't understand the directions, I tend to give up rather easily.

Where's a simple 1-2-3 tutorial that'll guide me to learning quickly?

BTW, the program takes forever to load it seems like. A couple of minutes rather than a few seconds.

It is a very simple program and really doesn’t need a big manual to accompany it… However: Tutorials

As I said, you cannot “save” edits, you can only Export them to file and later, DVD.

Pop back in when you have time to work on this and we can go over it.

Previous visit was cut short due to time constraints. Sorry. I now have a day or two to re-try.

Here's what I've done. Result was negative. Nothing happened.

Let's start over.

===========

Easy VHS to DVD Editing

Windows XP SP3 OS

Transferred 3 mins 1 sec of movie "Outbreak" from VHS to hard drive. Playback is OK.

Called up Easy VHS to DVD. It takes a long time to load.

When loaded, I clicked on Record, Edit and Save

I closed the Setup screens as I'm already set up.

I clicked on Import Video and selected the recorded video on the hard drive and opened it.

I dragged the left trim marker to 1:58 to get rid of the intro commercials before the start of the movie.

I moused over the bottom right arrow "Ready to Export" and clicked.

On the Devices screen, I selected Computer and Browsed to the folder where I wanted the trimmed movie to be. I kept the same name as there seems to be no way to give the trimmed movie a new one.

I designated a folder called "Captured Videos" and clicked OK

Then I clicked on Export.

I then saw a progress bar that said "Processing Video - Outbreak 4.

It went really fast. Then it got to 98% complete and stalled.

I waited up to 15 minutes and nothing more happened.

I've had the same results every time I try - now many times. It won't go beyond 98%.

So I canceled the job and quit the program

Am I missing something?

I even deleted the entire program and reinstalled it a couple of times. that was no help.

How do I make this program work as it's supposed to?

Transferring tapes in real time is enough. The processing should go a lot faster. I expect that burning to DVD will take a while too. What can I expect, assuming I can get the program to perform correctly?

Thanks

Is snow burying everyone?

My posting shows 4 replies, but I don't see 'em.

It also reports 424 views.

Is my problem unsolvable?

I really would like to get on with transferring my tapes. OR ... get something else to work with.

It doesn't seem logical to market a product that won't trim out unwanted material.

If I'm doing it wrong, please somebody tell me how to do it right.

Otherwise I'm led to believe the product is a dog and I should send it to the pound.

Your last Post is #6, see that in the right side… That makes your Original Post, #1, and (now) 5 replies following it…

You don’t see that?

This isn’t Roxio Tech Support, we are all just fellow users here and no one is Bound to give you a solution or even an answer. We try to help where we can.

It is probably not even legal to copy commercial movies, We will assume you are only using one for a test. Don’t mention it again or the thread will be closed.

You never listed your PC Specs and HDD Free Space… make sure your video card drivers and software in 100% up to date!

Defrag your HDD.

Turn off ALL background activity and don’t touch the PC while it is working!

Follow the Prep Steps to the letter and do another install. Repair should be an option, take it.

Try a different clip or capture.

Let us know how you make out.

Hoping the Repair will resolve that issue but often it is several things so I tried to cover them all!

If not, try a capture a different clip and try that! Either way, let us know how you make out.

I don't use the V2D but I have seen this many times in the regular Editor & Authoring software... Most frustrating because it always waits till the end. Try that on a 12+ hour render!
