Can't Find Cpdecoderpack_43

amartin99

Question

hello

I got a new computer last spring and it apparently came with ( Easy CD and DVD Burning )

well anyway I attempted to install NERO the other day

it didn't work out for me but I do recall it saying that something had to be disabled for it

I downloaded there uninstaller for Nero and it only about 1/2 worked

the rest I removed from the remove programs thingy in windows

I think it is all gone now

but every time I try to play a vid now I keep getting a popup wanting to use something at

c:\dell\P3DNV\CPDECODERPACK_43\

but that folder dose not igsist (I BLAME NERO)

I tried to have dell's PC restorer's FIX option do a scan of my computer but it found nothing wrong

im sure if I do a FULL PC restore it will fix this but that means backing up all my data then re installing it

id really rather not do that

can you please tell me where to download (or find on my computer) what ever it is that this thing expects to find at

c:\dell\P3DNV\CPDECODERPACK_43\

I can then make the folder as it expects and salve this problem (I think)

You say it doesn't exist, so how could we tell you where to find it on your PC?

Do you have a installation/backup disc maybe you could recreate the folder at c:\dell\P3DNV\CPDECODERPACK_43\?

If not your options are to contact Dell for support. They bundled the Roxio software with your PC and it's a OEM version I can't help you with.

I was thinking if nero had simply moved it somewhere you may know where

since nero did this on install I thought you had likely encountered it before

the only disk that came with this computer is for installing windows

in my experience dell support is just short of useless the last few times I asked them for help all they did was waist an hour of my time accomplish nothing and in the end I had to find a fix myself

I registered my "Easy CD and DVD Burning" today

would it be posible for you to check your files and give me a download link so I can re install it ?

Amartin,

This is a user-manner support board. We are all fellow-customers except for a clearly marked Roxio supervisor who comes past once in a while.

If your new computer came with a Roxio program bundled, I'm afraid that you need to go back to your OEM supplier to get another copy - and it looks like that was DELL. OEM copies are not available from Roxio because they're DELL's property.

Roxio's policy on this is outlined here and here.

Regards,

So it appears you do not have the Retail, Red Box, version but rather the Dell OEM... It isn't the same as the Red Box but they are close cousins ;)

If you go to their support site, check for downloads you will find you are authorize to download the OEM.

The number of times is limited, so it would be prudent to burn a disc of it when you do!

I contacted support then left for work

got back to find a reply came in 9 min later (impressive)

telling me to contact dell (not so impressive)

im sic of contacting dell 90% of the time they are no help

but I guess it's either that or do a full PC restore (which I don't want to do)

it's like building a hole new house cause one of your windows is sticking

just took another look at the dell support/download site

there is a link at the bottom of a LONG drivers list for software

everything I should need is there

and try as I mite I just can't blame dell for me not noticing it before

That is something to remember next time you go to buy a new PC! ;)

yea but I used to LOVE there support

a few years ago I was extreamly impressed

but the last 4-5 times I called them I spent 1/2 my time trying to get them to understand the problem and the other 1/2 while they faile at trying to fix it

used to be normally a 2-3 min fix for them nor an hour gows and nothing gained

then I end up fixing it myself
