Proxy Manager Not Working

I have used Easy VHS to DVD since October 2010 quite successfully. I am now starting to use it again and now get the proxy manager not working error followed by the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD has stopped working. I have looked at the various messages on this forum about this problem and have done the following:-

- Checked I am on SP2 for Vista

- tried to use the system update for easy whs to dvd sp2 from the support site (it said i didn't have the main software installed - I do)

- Uninstalled the whole package and then reinstalled. Then tried the software update with the same result (software not installed)

 

I am now totally at a loss as how to proceed. Any help would be gratefully received

Need to know the Version number of your V2D software, there are 4 of them…

 

Even without the V2D SP, does it work now?

The build number is 201b23a. The box also says it is REV E That is the best information I can find. The software does not work at all. It tells me twice that proxy manager is not working and then that the software is not working. I got the build number from the splash screen for the software before it fails.

 

I would appreciate any help you can give

That version (201B) does not have any SP’s so there are none to find.

 

Best suggestion would be to follow the Prep Steps to the letter, then Uninstall – Reboot – Reinstall.

 

Curious, are you running any other Roxio software?

I am going through that advcie at the moment. Iw ill let you know what happens. I did used to have roxio creator de 10.1 installed on my PC. It came preinstalled. I saw that one issue could be other roxio software so I have already uninstalled this.

Conflict was a long shot We have never had a report of it with the 201B software...

I did think that as I have had the software running before (when I had the other software installed) that this was unlikely. I have been trying to think what has happened to my pc since it worked OK. The only thing I have really changed is general windows updates. I am now totally upto date on the windows updates. Other than that I haven't done anything else.

I have gone through the process as requested and there is no change. Exactly the same problem with no difference. Do you have any other ideas?

No I really do not… Other than work with technical support.

 

You can open a ticket today but I don’t think anyone staffs it except on weekdays.

 

This error has popped up from time to time but no one ever seems to come back and let us know if it was fixed. And HOW!

I just purchased the EZ Vhs to DVD and have the same exact problem. did same exact reccomended solutions. SO please let me know the resolve if any....Thanks

I have the same Proxy Manager has stopped working problem. The Roxio Easy VHS DVD application had worked 2 years before but now I get a "Proxy Manager has stopped working" error on start up. I can acknowledge the errors (twice) and the application eventually comes up. I can then use the "Record, Edit and Save option" but I can not import any video files that it creates. An import operation results in an "unkown error has occured" and the application crashes. So I'm guessing there is some update or application conflict since it had once worked before. Finding what conflicts will be like finding a needle in a haystack so I guess this program will be uninstalled and the installation DVD will be tossed into the trash where it belongs as I remembered it was a nightmare to install aqnd run this applcation 2 years prior because it needed some redistributables that Roxio support had failed to mention or help me with at that time.
