Question

Just wondering if it is possible to buy a new copy of Creator 2010 (download or disc)? Does Roxio offer that service?

My copy will not install due to missing/corrupted certificate and repeated "Installation Interrupted - Please Try Again Later" error messages.

I really liked Ceator 2010 and prefer it to others I have tried.

I don’t do video on laptops and haven’t looked at any since my Mini 10 (4/09) So I don’t really have any opinions on them other than the fact that we have seen that it takes are really high end one to work…

Thanks for that info. Appreciate the kind words. I'm trrying to become a little smarter re computers, but I know I have a long way to go. I just don't spend a lot of time on one and when I start snooping around I'm afraid that I might screw something up. So, I depend on the experts to guide and teach me.

Anyway, was thinking of getting a really good laptop, so will be browsing them and ask my ISP tech spt for some recommendations. Been with them for around 20 years and they are very trustworthy. Any recommendations you might have will be seriously considered, but being on social security makes cost a definite limitation.

Again Jim, thanks so much for alll your help and kind words.

Personally I'd go for a desktop rather than a laptop on the simple basis that it's easier to add RAM, drives, etc (as well as being cheaper)

At least with a desktop you can get better graphics - in general you can't do a lot with laptops as they start to show their age

I'm on retirement pension myself (state one) and they oh so generously give us a rise in line with inflation. The problem is they give it in April for an inflation rate back in October and, as they just increased VAT (sales Tax) to 20%, we don't get anything to cover that

If you're having problems installing it, a fresh copy won't be any better.

Did you try copying the files over to a folder on the hard dive? If they are corrupt, then you'll get a CRC error - if they copy, then there's nothing wrong with the disc

Why don't you call them, they are the only ones that can answer that. You live in the the same state.

I think you should change your name to "boomerang" ;)

I copied the files to a folder on My PC. During copying I got the error shown in 1st atch. How is that possible on the disc I purchased last year and has been filed away until now and is not scratched or has any other damage?

Went to file on computer, clicked on setup and got the error shown in 2nd atch.

Any other suggestions?

I just thought that maybe someone in the forums might have known about an option such as that.

I find it difficult to believe that there is no answer to my problem when Creator was working fine until I was advised to uninstall it and now nobody seems to know what to do about it.

Can you explain just HOW you got anything in appdata from copying the contents of a disc to a folder on the hard drive?

It copies to a FOLDER - not to appdata, program files, windows or anywhere else

All I have in that folder are temp burn folders - nothing else. Apart from which it's a MS folder and not a Roxio one. Roxio files would be in 'Roaming' and not 'Local'

your fix is really quite easy...

Format c:\

You need to buy a new HDD and find a person that knows something about computers. They will help you format the the new HDD, install your OS and then install Roxio. Everything will suddenly work again.

You have been posting for a year now and the only consistency is that it don't work and you don't follow instructions well... I make this suggestion in good faith.

Thanks Jim. I know I've been somewhat of a pest and "computer challengd". I guess I'll take it in to my ISP Tech Spt and have them do it. Or, I may just go ahead and get another new computer. Been thinking of a laptop. In your professional opinion, what would you recommend?

Do you think my original Creator disc will work then?

Again, thanks for your help. I appreciate it more than it may seem.

Thanks gi7omy for your response.

I did not copy anything to appdata. I have no idea how that happened. What I did was create a new folder under My PC. I inserted the disc, clicked on Computer, E. and when the files opened I clicked on "select all" then copy. While it was copying, that was when I got the pane showing the app data info. I continued and then went to New folder, right clicked and paste. Eveything went into new foldeer but nothing installed.

At amy rate, I'm going to do as Jim Hardin suggested.
