Installing Creator 2011 From Dvd

outerbank

Question

Preparing for initial installation of C2011 on a new computer. Have been browsing through the forum viewing a number of installation related problems. Also have read and printed Knowledge Article: 000080GN, and performed the necessary updates, except for IE8 and WMP11. Latest drivers installed for video card and burner. Made notes about how to get and send the Application Data log files if an installation problem occurs.

In the "Getting Started Guide" that accompanies the DVD installation disk, under "The installer gives you the choice of:"... Installing Roxio Streamer server and Streamer Client. At the present time I'm not interested in this feature. My question is, should I change my mind at a later date and wish to install this feature can it be done?

I've read the post by the Roxio person describing how to send the Roxio related Application Data log file should a problem occur during installation. Is this Application Data log file created when installing C2011? The reason I ask is that I do not currently find an Application Data folder on the computer.

Finally, after the DVD is read by the drive and opens, I believe there should be 3 different programs to install. According to what I have read on the forum, the Creator 2011 program file must be installed before the Content file is installed. Is this correct?

Trying to do the homework before attempting installation so as to avoid as much as possible any of the installation problems experienced by others.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have C2011 Pro. I bought Creator 2011 Special Edition. It came with only one disk. Presumably the opening window will look similar to the first picture, except it will be for Creator 2011 Special Edition. I won't have Smartsound or Bias Sound, correct?

Correct.

You will need to uninstall C2011 then reinstall C2011, Streamer Server, and Streamer Client.

Does this mean a complete uninstall of C2011 before the Streamer software can be installed? Or is it a simple uninstall from Add/Remove programs?

Everyone doesn't have trouble and has to do this big production 'Clean Uninstall Reinstall'.

You would try a uninstall from Add Remove programs / Programs and Features, if you have trouble and it doesn't work the big production would be in order. ;)

Installation of C2011 is completed. Got a strange message upon opening VideoWave the first time.

"It is not possible to dock the effect selector at the current dispaly setting." Clicked on OK and the message went away. Closed VideoWave to open MyDVD. MyDVD opened okay. Went back and opened VideoWave again. This time it opened without the previous message. For information purposes, the display setting on the monitor is 1024x768, and 32 bit color.

At this point the installation appears to be successful. Thanks for the guidance.

That message is normal if your screen resolution is set to low. The program will run without problems. If you can run at a higher screen resolution (the vertical resolution (768) should be at least 1024 if you want to be able to dock the "selectors".

First question. What are dock selectors?

Started a new project. Was adding slides without any problem until the following occurred:

RunTime Error

C:Program Files\Roxio 2011|VideoUI\VideoWave13.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more info.

And here I thought the installation was successful.
