Problem In Videowave

joanieliz

Question

Hi,

I have completed a film combining, as I usually do, photos and video clips with the same dissolve transition throughout.

I render the project using - output, Pal, All and DVD Mpeg best quality. This has worked well. My recent effort however, had some black spwces where the image should be, though my text appears alongside the space. I did a repair, and my next attempt had even more blank spaces.

I updated my graphic card drivers a couple of weeks ago. Before rendering, I turn off everything, firewall, virus scan etc. I make sure the screen saver does not kick in by changing the settings and go offline (learned from the forum).

So I am puzzled and would be grateful for advice. I have rendered other films without any problem.

Thanks

Joanie

OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

Are you burning the project directly to disc or to an image (ISO) file? Try burning to an ISO file - same place as burn to disc. Select only the ISO file. Download the free VLC player and add the ISO file to it to play. Are there any missing images? If so, come back and let us know. If not, simply burn that ISO file to the DVD.

Have you changed the brand of disc lately? Are you using Memorex or a store brand? Did you ever hear the phrase penny wize and pound foolish? Use Verbatim or better Taiyo Yuden (JVC) available on line.

Oh dear,

I did reply to this (I am not sure where it went!) to say that I render the project to an ISO, using export as. I can watch the rendering process and see the missing images. Just before I received the above reply I tried rendering using hardware instead of software and all the images were there.

So, to my next project (I am catching up on a backlog of grandchildren and holiday footage). I have tried -

1)rendering using software as MPEG2 best quality as ISO

2)rendering using hardware as MPEG2 best quality as ISO

3)"send to my DVD" and burn using hardware and software.

4) removing the image stabilizer on the video sections.

5) repair

6) clean uninstall using a doc I found amongs the posts date 10/1 called complete uninstall instructions. Then reinstalled , again, following instructions found on this forum, turnng everything off the start menu.

Basically what I get is video, transition, then the colour panel, some with text, but where the image should there is a black space. In this recent project tehre were 10 missing just in the first half hour.I have been doing this for days now and beginning to despair as there are others to do.

I am now at a loss and would welcome suggestions.

Thanks

Joanie

You cannot render to an iso project file from Videowave using "Export As". So something does not add up in your process description. The iso file is only created when you are using myDVD.

Thats weird, I do export as, then in the box tick pal, 16:9 and watch it in a box which says rendering. WHen I right click on the file afterwards it says ISO.

Can you suggest anothe way to do it as I have tried that and straight to my dvd, doing both hard ware and software and i have run out of options that I am aware of.

I have created so many files of this video now, not to mention the coasters through my dvd, though I name them all differently, maybe I go mixed up. I seem to have been doing this for days. Got small grandchildren today (tiny twins currently taking a nap!) and tomorrow so cant really do much until Sunday, but would love to resolve this.

Thanks for your response.

We seem to be talking all around this but it is simple… VideoWave CANNOT produce an ISO file!

Never has, never will ;) :

MyDVD can produce an ISO file:

But there is no “Export As” function in MyDVD!

Go to NVIDIA’s site and make sure you have the most up to date drivers and software for your card. Even if you do have them, uninstall them and then reboot and reinstall them.

Thanks Jim, I think my brain is worn. I looked at the screen shots and will try "same as original", I havent done that, I have been doing mpeg 2 best quality. Hopefully I will get there, I usually do with the guru's help !!!

Thanks for your response.

You can try it but in every case I can recall that had missing pictures, it came down to the Video Card...

Your card is capable but the drivers/software could be what is holding you back.

Edit: I am download ATI drivers at this moment, second update they have had this month :o

We had an automatic update from Nvidia a couple of days ago. May have to start from scratch with it as you said. I will try your other suggestion first though, doing same as original.

Thanks again,

Joanie

oh oh twins waking up.....
