Installation Issues With Creator 2011 Pro And Win 7

wings9697

Question

I just attemped to install 2011 pro on my HP CQ61-420US laptop from the DVD. The OS is Win 7 Home Premium and all patches and drivers are current. After getting past the Windows version compatibility error, install is now failing on DirectX as the error I see in the log is 'DIRECTX_FEB10.Install failed with exit code 1603 '.

I copied the contents of the DVD to a folder on the HD and then attempted to download the fix as specified here :

Noticed quite a few issues with the installer for DirectX not working correctly. To get around this you'll need to download the latest installer from Microsoft and then run Roxio's setup with a disable command. Heres how to do it.

1. Download and install latest DirectX 9 Runtimes from Microsoft

http://www.microsoft...91-50ceb6d8fa8d

2. Copy all install files from disk to folder on harddrive. If you have a downloaded version (ie. RoxioCreator2011_JA08NXD0R13.exe) you'll need to extract the .exe file using Winzip(Free Trial works) or WinRar.

3. Download the following and extract to folder where install files are. Replace setup.exe

http://www.dutran.co...etup356B40A.zip

4. Click on the batch file "DisableDirectX.bat"

5. Install the Roxio application.

but the file Setup356B40A.zip is corrupted. Does anyone have a way around this problem? Please let know .....

Thanks in advance....

Edit- Log file removed because it contains the CD Key!

Log files should not be posted, they should be sent to support or when asked to a secure place Roxio folks ask you to send them.

I will forward these for you to Roxio's installation expert, hopefully he will stop in and recommend a fix for you.

What do you mean by corrupted? Can't download, extract? I just downloaded and extracted with no problems

http://www.dutran.com/Roxio/Setup356B40A.zip

Every time I download and attempt to open it in WinZip, it tells me it is not a valid archive. When I open it in Win RaR, it still tells me its a invalid archive, but opens it so I can see the three files, but none of them will extract. Thats as far as I can get.

PM me your email address and I'll send the file.

Okay, I got your email with the file. I was able to download it and attempt another install. This is how far it got after getting past the disable DirectX option:

==========

I have included a screen shot of the folders in the log file so you can see it. Four new folders were added since the last log file was created.

I already have MS Visual Studio 2005 so I am up to date on .Net . Do I have to disable that as well?
