No Cd Jewel Label Creator Like Easy Cd Version 5 Platinum

RichieH

Question

I just bought the easy cd & dvd Burning software version 10. It is a diappointment because I can't make any standard Jewel case labels like I was able to do with easy cd creator 5 Platinum. Does roxio use that sort of label software in any of it's products now?

Yes Roxio does still use the Roxio Label Creator in its full versions.

It is removed [along with many other useful things] from the Easy CD and DVD Burning software, which has only a version of Express Labeler.

Please be aware that there's very little compatibility as far as using .JWL files from earlier versions in general, and absolutely no compatibility between versions 10.1 onwards and .JWL files from version 10.0 and earlier.

There's a moderate amount of compatibility between the Roxio Label Creator in Creator 2009, C2010, and C2011, and their saved files but it's not guaranteed that this will continue in future versions.

I'm not the greatest when it comes to making disc's of my music, so can you recommend which of the software products are closests to the old easy cd 5 version. It was so simple to use, and it served me well till I got winXP with service pack 3. Any help you could give is greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a good day.

Easy CD Creator 5 will run fine in XP-SP3, as long as you don't update Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player to the later versions which kill ECDC5. [see the Easy CD Creator 5 forum]

Actually, the Label Creator from Easy CD Creator 5 will still run fine in XP-SP3 even if you do update IE and WMP. I have it running as a 'stand-alone' in my Windows 7 Ultimate - because I like it, and because I can.

All it takes is to copy the folder which contains CDLabel.exe and its two sub-folders from either a backup or a hard drive running ECDC 5, into a spare folder somewhere on your hard drive. Then create a desktop shortcut to CDLabel.exe, and you're away laughing.

CDLabel lives in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\Label Creator.

You copy that folder plus the Page Files and Style Files sub-folders to somewhere on your current machine, and set up the shortcut. That's all there is to it.
