Crash In Video Copy & Convert

npapanik

Question

I am trying to convert a DVD (VOB files) to H.264/AVC and I am having a Windows crash (@ 6% progress) in Video Copy & Convert when I am converting using ATI's Stream.

I don't have any problem doing the same, when I am converting with the CPU only (with ATI Stream uninstalled).

My VGA pass any benchmark (even furmark).

Roxio 2011 is fully updated.

My specs:

AMD Phenom X4 955 (not overclocked)

8GB RAM

ATI 4890 1GB (x2 in Crossfire mode) running latest driver v11.2, and ATI Stream v11.2

Windows 7 64bit fully patched

Did it work before ever?

Its the first time that I have tried with the ATI Stream installed. Windows are fresh installed.

What setting is that?

H.264

HD 720p

PAL (25fps)

25000

If I use a different profile (eg iphone: H.264, 480x320, 30fps, 2500) it works!

I measured the difference when encoding with the above profile:

Without ATI Stream: 12min

With ATI Stream: 7min

Impressive!!!!

The following crash is reported in Windows Application Log; it seems that that the ATI Stream atimpenc.dll crashes and therefore Roxio crashes...

I have disabled Crossfire but the same crash happened at 7% (With a different DVD...)
