Just installed Creator 2011 and connected my Sony HDR-XR350 via USB but program is not recognizing the camera. My laptop does not have Firewire so USB is the only connection choice. How do I fix this problem? Thank you.

You do not need Roxio to transfer the video from your camcorder to your hard drive. Simply use Windows Explorer and copy just like from any other hard drive.

If Windows Explorer does not see the connected camcorder as just another device then you have problems with your system and not with C2011

In what format are the videos? Why do you want to convert? What steps are you taking to convert? You do have to supply some information.

The movies I copied from my camera are in MTS format. Am I correct to assuume that I need to convert these files to WMV or MPEG in order to view them? I'm trying to find the best way to organize and archive my videos so I can delete from my camcorder harddrive. I also want to use these to create a movie. I hope this helps. THanks.

No need to convert them to view the files using Windows Media Player. The only reason to convert is if you want to shrink the files size, but you also lose video quality depending on file format and amount of compression.
