How Can I Backup To A Network Drive?

mtiede

Question

When I try to specify a Destination for BackOnTrack, I can't type a network drive like \\192.1681.200 or any of its directories. So then I mapped the Z: to the folder I wanted. But Z: doesn't show up as a choice in the drop down. How do I back up to a network drive?

I have Creator 11 Pro and am running on Vista Business.

I looked all over and could not find a definitive answer but I believe that what you are trying to do is not possible. Basically no Roxio Prosumer software will work over a network.

BTW, Please use the full name of Creator 2011 Pro to prevent confusion with version numbers.

Hmmm.... This thread http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/69060-roxio-2011pro-backontrack/page__p__350615__hl__backontrack__fromsearch__1#entry350615 shows pictures apparently of Creator 2011 Pro with BackOnTrack able to reference some network drives as destination.

Is that a different version or something?

I think my BackOnTrack came with my Roxio Creator 2011 Pro, but maybe it came with the machine. The suspicious part is that the BackOnTrack is under Roxio folder and not Roxio 2011. So maybe it is an older version that lacks that feature. File Version says it is 4.0.0.0.
