Record, Edit And Save

cindycactus

Question

I am working with Easy VHS to DVD (build 201B23A ENU). When I use the Record, Edit & Save I am making short sections of a longer tape. Then I play the section I am working on and I add trim markers where there are some bad places or where the video section is too long. I play it back and those sections are trimmed out. But when I Export it to my computer and play it back the trimmed places are back. I have looked for something else to do before Exporting to make sure the trimmed places stay trimmed but can't see anything else to do. Can someone tell me what else I should be doing. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 SP2.

What do you mean by trim markers? Video can only be trimmed at the beginning or end of the clip. If you want to remove a section of "internal" video you should use a different method.

Perhaps if you can explain in more detail what you are doing we can tell you where you are going wrong.

Well I think that explains it. I am trying to remove some of the middle portions. So I will have to try a different method. Thanks for you quick reply.

To remove a section from within a clip is quite easy.

Create a split at the beginning of the section you want to remove. Then another split at the end of the section to be removed. Then select the section to be removed and delete. You do this in the timeline editor mode.

Whoa gang, cindy has the 201B version… What Walt is describing is Correct for the previous versions!

However, the “Trim” Markers in the 201B version operate like those in the Editor of Video Copy & Covert from the Creator 2011 Suite. It would appear that Roxio does not own a Dictionary or understand the English language! Unless they know how you can trim a bush from the middle…

Misnamed or not, in the World Roxio lives in, you can have multiple ‘trim’ points…

In this sample, I have 3 but have left the ends alone:

To remove the center one, I move my cursor to one of the drag handles until the cursor turns into a double arrow:

Then Drag that one back until it runs into the other drag handle:

When I let go, that ‘trim’ is gone:

The ‘arrow’ on the right will remove all of the editing markers taking you back to square one! Be a little careful with that one ;)
