Install Roll back at SmartSound

bretterbring

Question

Hello to Roxio US from Germany.

I bought the 2011 pro version as update for an older version. And I received these 2 DVDs via US mail here in Germany. Fine.

I've an AMD 5600+ computer (directx 10 usable graphic)with VISTA 64bit up to date and just installed by zero with all updates from Microsoft. In the first phase the setup process of Creator 2011 didn't work at all. And also the help of the German Roxio support was not very helpfull.

So I found this blog and used the additonal files within the zip-file I found here[/b].

Fine - suddenly it worked - till to a special part within the installation process:

When setup tried to install the smartsound function I received a mask with the information "application corrupt" and as consequence there was a roll back as part of the installation process.

Then I tried to start the setup program which is in the subfolder \smartsound_50\Common Data Installer\ - but with the same result of an corrupted app. So it seems thatssomething is wrong in this subdicectory.

As it was possible to copy all files from DVD to hard disk it doesn't seem to be an OS problem. I tried to find a chance to download at least this part of the software from Internet. But till now no chance.

Now I hope someone can help me to fix also my last installation problem...

Well I found a way to download the sublib smartsound_50 with torrent(slowly and not usable for a whole software download). I compared this download with my version. Surprisingly from explorer view it was totally the same except the file history.bld.

As result I copied the download version to my installation lib but kept the original history.bld

Next try - and it worked - at this point without any corrupt hint!!!!

That means the content of one of the original files on my disk is false.

But next surprise: At first installer showed ongoing creator installation - then again rollback at a later point.

I looked into the Windows aktivity log and found that something from Disk1 couldn't be read.

Now I assume my DVD bought by Roxio Online contains more than one error.

To be clear every of my tries has been done from hard disk from a folder c:roxio in which I copied the Disk1-content without any problem and also your modifications (avoid directx install and different setup.exe)

Potentially someone from Roxio can help me when reading the file attached. I copied a part of the setup logfile (without key) into this textfile - addionally on top divided by a line the VISTA error sentence.

Thanks in advance

After some more tries with my setup (better and better but not till to a positiv end) I found an international download version including German language - and tested it. Surprisingly everything worked fine!!!!!!!!!!

So I come to the conclusion that some files on my DVD from US are corrupt in a way the operating system cannot find it. Clear it's remarkable that an official software DVD can have these mistakes, but no doubt.

Now I've to find out a way to come from a working "testversion" to a legal status.
