I am having the same problem.

SLI_Fallen

Question

I am having the same problem.

Whether I am actually burning the project or creating an ISO (to test) first, it *ALWAYS* gets to 97% and crashes "Videowave has stopped working".

I have spent a week uninstalling Roxio (all apps), cleaning out all roxio entries in the registry, disabling *ALL* firewall/antivirus EVERYTHING. Install fresh roxio 2011, downloaded (then installed Service pack 1 (note I clean rebooted at every step and re-disabled all firewall/antivirus AGAIN before installing the service pack and then rebooting again and verifying no more updates were needed. Then tried a simple burn straight away and i'm right back to the exact same problem. And the ISO it created is junk. And, I know what I am doing, trust me.

You posted in a thread regarding using Video Copy and Convert...

If that is what you are actually using, stop repeating the same actions that get nowhere.

Load your clip(s) into VideoWave and output them as new file.

Then try that new file in VCC.

It sounds like something in your clip(s) that is choking VCC ;)

Umm, No. This is where it shows me that this is posted to: "Roxio Community> Easy Media Creator Products> Creator 2011> Program Errors/Crashes/Hangs" But whatever.

Thanks for pointing out to try in videowave first as it turns out it crashed straight away with the QTCF.dll missing message. I had to copy that file from the QuickTime folder to Windows/System32 and all is well. Odd that it's an avi file, and (apparently) at the completion of the encoding/menu creation process MyDVD is invoking videowave but, that as they say is that. Just verified that whole process is working now.

Have a great day.

Today is March 1, 2011 and I have been having the SAME problems as YOU -- and I have been performing the same actions to fix the problem. I get to 97% and it crashes with a notice that "Videowave has stopped working" -- although sometimes I get it to work, but generally only after running REPAIR. Also, I always BOTH burn and create an ISO. And the ISO is junk. I have been using computers for over 20 years and I have been using ROXIO CREATOR, in its various versions, for many years. I have earlier versions on my other laptop and my desktop and I have had never encountered this frustrating dilemma.

I understand that my anti-virus program might be hanging things up. I use AVAST!. But I have the same failures when I disable both my internet connection and my anti-virus program.

I was successful in burning a couple of DVD's when I reinstalled my DISC, but DID NOT INSTALL the online SP1 update. But yesterday, Videowave started failing again, so I decided to install the SP1 update. NO JOY! Now MYDVD consistently fails to create a DVD and I keep getting thenotice that "Videowave has stopped working". So - once again - I plan to UNINSTALL everything and reinstall ONLY the Creator 2011 disk and not the SP1 update. I suspect that MyDVD might allow me to create a couple of DVDs before it starts to fail again. That has been the pattern for nearly two weeks now.

I wish the problem would be consistent and re-creatable so I could try to isolate it and work on a solution. But the problem is inconsistent. Sometimes I am successful and sometimes I fail. And it can be with the same video project, but a different time. And it can work or not work whether I try it without chapters or with chapters -- or with menus or without menus -- or using "fit to disc" or "same as original" or "HQ quality" (when obviously my HQ video will fit).

I have tried avoiding the use of Videowave by only trying to burn discs that can be burned with MyDVD as "same as original" or that do not need any changes when "fit to disc" is selected. But the failure is still inconsistent - and there is no recurring theme -- there is no one way to be sure of it not failing.

Most of the time I use MyDVD by selecting NO MENUS - and just burning one 63 minute video - and not even using chapters. But that does not assure me of success - and so I go back to using chapters and sometimes that will work.

One time I could not get two different 60 minute videos to burn using MyDVD - even tho I tried four times. But then I tried burning them both in MyDVD on the same project, by editing the video and putting one video next to the other. To my complete surprise, I was successful. It took nearly three hours for the process to complete, but Videowave did not fail, which I consider a miracle up there with parting the Red Sea.

BUT - BECAUSE it takes hours to "fit to disc" the video programs that are longer than 70 minutes - and that require re-encoding -- I have preferred to only try to make MyDVD work by using video programs that are under 65 minutes. THAT WAY, it takes only ten minutes on my computer to get to the point of 97% completion -- when "record menus" is attempted -- and when the VIDEOWAVE FAILURE occurs. That way, I can save time and find out if "Videowave has stopped working" without spending hours to get to the failure point.

Anyway: here are the details on my computer.
