fritzmom
Hi there, New here and a former Roxio user. It's been a loooong time since I've used my Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and in the interim I've upgraded computers from Win 98 to Win XP. I've been purusing some of the posts and noticed that it is possible to load my software on a XP OS, but, I have got IE 7 and WMP 11 running on my machine and I don't really want to lose them. So my question is: since I don't want to give up IE 7 and WMP 11, is my best bet to just go out and purchase a newer version of Roxio? The main purposes I am looking for is to rip CDs into MP3s and create custom labels and jewel covers, and to be able to 'copy / backup' CDs and DVDs. But, I would also like to be able to take miniDVDs (from older model Sony Handycam)and be able to convert to regular DVDs that are watchable on any DVD device. There are sooo many Roxio products it's mind boggling. What product would fit my needs the best? Thanks in advance for any help / advice that you can give me. gi7omy
The current version is Creator 2011 which will be able to do everything you want. However, never be fooled by 'minimum specs'- you will need a reasonably fast machine with plenty of RAM to do the video editing http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/creator/suite/overview.html I'm not sure but as an existing customer (even that long back) you may qualify for a discount (but you'd need to ask sales about that - we're just users here)
d_deweywright
Also keep in mind that if your intent is to "backup" commercial movie DVDs, those are encrypted discs and Roxio products will not help you break that encryption to make illegal "backups".
