Copy And Convert Video Not Working

rolentz

Question

My PC is running Windows 7. I just installed a newly purchased copy of RC 2011. The software installed with no error messages (note that I disabled my virus protection before installing). The program starts up just fine, but when I try to convert a video to put on my Zune, the status bar for the conversion never moves off of 0%. I tried repairing, and then uninstalling and reinstalling, but I get the same results. Can anyone help?

Try this file in Video Copy & Convert, we have used it as a test file for others.

Day After Tomorrow, The - Theatrical Trailer 40 MB DivX

Am appreciating everyone's help. I did download this test file, and got an error message (see attached).

I also took the "Sync It" copy (from XviD to MOV) and used the copy and convert tool, and it that worked. So I've verified the tool works, just not with XviD formats.

That little tidbit would have been very useful at the start... From what we can see indicates you are in Texas so PAL was never considered.

Roxio Installer looks at your language based on what Windows was installed as. Had it seen English (country) from a Country other than the US, it would have set to PAL automatically.

Really happy you got it fixed, and it emphasizes the importance of supplying details ;)

This is my final post on this topic, because I definitely solved the problem. I thought running RC2011 in xp compatibility mode was the fix, but it was not. The fix turned out to be changing the rendering format from NTSC to PAL.

Just thought I would post in case anyone else experiences this or similar difficulties.

Just to follow up . . . .

Tech support provided a link to a DivX codec package and suggested that I load it. I did, but this did not fix the problem. I then decided to run the program in XP compatability mode, and for the first time VCC ran smoothly. So I guess I'm just going to have to run the program in compatability mode.

Again, appreciate everyone's help. I've sent an email to technical support, so maybe they will have some ideas.

Reinstall older version of Creator. Roxio took several versions to get their software to work with WinXP so it's likely the same has to occur before Roxio gets it right in Win7. You should also get Premiere Elements as backup to Videowave. No single app is ever good at everything you want to do.

Creator 2011 seems to have made itself more user friendly for the masses but it may have been at the cost of stability especially when doing something more involved.

New question. Does RC 2011 have it's own xvid codec? I am wondering if perhaps the problem I am having is a codec issue. I have the stock windows decoder (mp4sdecd.dll) installed.

BTW, I am able to play the file I am trying to convert in various players, including CinePlayer. So the xvid file is not corrupt. I just simply can't convert the video using Roxio's tools (other than SyncIt, which takes an extraordinarily long time to convert, and the quality of the conversion is not great).

There must be something wrong with your system. I have just used VCC to convert the Trailer to a Zune file using VCC and it did it without any problems. Videowave also has no problems with using DivX and Xvid. I use VW a lot to edit DivX and/or Xvid files.

Divx doesn't seem to be a supported format in Videowave. Looks like I can use the drop & convert feature -- it seems to be converting (we shall see), but its sooooo slow. I really would prefer to get the Copy and Convert feature working.

Lol, yes I did push the green button ; - )

Typically, what I do is convert downloaded tv shows to my zune. So, the format is usually divx (or something like that) to wmv. I was using Creator 2009 with XP, but I just upgraded my machine to Windows 7 and decided to go ahead and upgrade to Creator 2011 at the same time. Prior to the upgrades, I was having no problems.

I did try to "preview" but the same thing happens. Never moves off 0%. I've started either convert or preview and walked away for several minutes. When I come back, it's still setting at 0%.

Forgot to add that I do have SP1 installed.

I just tried it and it took about 2 seconds to convert but I lost half of that one (15 seconds rather than 30 seconds) when I went to preview the output (Right side) but it was all there when I naviagted to where I saved it.

What happens if you select to preview it (left side). play arrow? Does it play? Are you selecting any custom outputs? Why? You screen shot shows that you are trying to convert a wmv file to a wmv file?

Convert HOW???

There are 3 programs in the Suite that will do that, be specific ;)

It would also help if you try it with a file of known quality. Search your C:\ drive for SAMPLE VIDEO.

Windows includes a couple of wmv files when it installs. Use one of those for testing.

Am attaching a screen print. Pictures are worth a thousands words, right? As you suggested I tried using a stock .wmv video. Conversion never moves off 0%.
