Changing Aspect And Quality

Harvette

Question

Hi all

Love my new 2011 version. However made my first DVD and burnt it and am most disappointed. Every new scene starts off in the wrong aspect then 2-3 seconds in changes to the the right aspect and then at the end of every scene about (3 seconds) the quality dramaticaly drop. It repeats this on every scene making the DVD un-viewable as it is constantly changing either aspect size or quality.

I have made the DVD project in standard quality, the source is Mpeg-2 720 by 576. I am selecting HQ in the burn process at. As i am watching the encoding process the same thing is happening and at the 2-3 seconds into the scene a window display comes up with a grey swirl stating MPEG and then goes back to the scene but at this time at the right aspect ratio. Again it repeats the process with every scene. What I am doing wrong

So the source is not wide screen and you do not want wide screen. Is that correct? In Edit Video-Advanced, when you open a new project, are you selecting "Normal - 4 by 3"? or are you selecting wide screen?

If you are not using Edit Video -Advanced, you should be to do any and all editing in the video. You can select5 to output to a mpg2 video file from there. AT least you would be able to see if the encoding is an issue.

If you are simply burning to an image file or to a disc with "Create DVD" what project options are you using? Are you selecting PAL?

The gray swirl with mpg2 means that that part of the video is already in the right format aand does not need to be re-encoded.
