"letter Box" Display Roxio 10

I have purchased a Canon IXUS 130 camera with the video facility, The file type is QuickTime .MOV .When I load the file to Roxio this format will not be accepted . I convert the file using the Drag and Drop function on SyncIt , this changes the file to an .mpg and this loads successfully onto Roxio.The problem I have is the Letter box appearance of the video, is there a way to increase the video screen size even if the means losing some on the video left and right.

The Roxio software 1.2.193 SP2.1 5.0.0.0.

 

The computer processor is Quad 2.33 running Windows 7 Ultimate

You could try changing the extension, MOV, to mp4... That may do the trick

 

I guess you are viewing it in VideoWave??? Are you sure you have VW set to a 16:9 project before you add the clip?

 

Also check under File Properties to see what way non widescreen material is to be handled.
