Losing Bass While Digitizing Lp's

AnselSmith

Question

I am in the process of digitizing my albums after taking a year off or so. The albums sound great coming out of the speakers. But when I listen to the "draft" before editing them in sound editor, the sound is terrible. It's like the song is missing all the bass.

I can add bass through the sound editor but its still not nearly as good as the original vinyl lp. I have checked all my connections for a lose cord. Anyone experiencing this problem and have solution?? Thanks--

What kind of sound card are you using ?? The reason I ask is depending on the sound card you have, it might not be able to pick up all of the exact sounds from your original. Or if you don't have a dedicated sound card does your MB have a built in sound chip ?

If you're connecting using a "Y" cable (two RCA plugs to a stereo 1/8" plug) try replacing that cable. If you have a bad ground wire, you'll get a very odd, mono sound because all you'll hear are the "difference" signals between the two channels. The bass is usually centered, and won't come out much.

Hope that helps!
