Black Screen

4putts

Question

Just a heads up,I had Roxio Creator 2011 and upgraded to Pro. Uninstalled 2011 and reinstalled Pro. After the force reboot I got the black screen of death on my 64bit windows 7. I fixed my problem by disabling something called Roxio hard drive watcher 12 in services.(msconfig). I guess it's something to do with the back up everyone wants to give you.I was curious if that's what it's for,if it is I won't miss it. Thanks

Roxio Hard Drive Watcher is part of the Roxio Media Manager and has nothing to do with "the back up everyone wants to give you". It simply catalogs your media files and can be easily turned off using the Media Manager.

Thanks for telling me what it is,must be something corrupt. When I try to open it the program locks up,but I guess it's not necessary for Roxio to work. So much for easily turned off. When you are having this problem I wonder how you would have troubleshot it instead of disabling the program and adding back services?

I never had a problem with the Roxio Hard Drive Watcher, I just don't need it and so disabled it right after the C2011 install.

It seems that you have a corrupt install, a repair install might be in order.
