Easy Cd And Dvd Burning De Home Blu-Ray Issue

TPADave

Question

I'm using the Easy CD and DVD Burning DE Home software that came with my Dell Windows 7 64bit computer. I used this software several months ago to burn some blu-ray discs. I tried burning some more discs this morning and the software is telling me I'm 4MB over when I haven't even added any data to the project. I thought this might be a bad disc, but every blank blu-ray is giving me this issue. The main changes to the system have been MS updates which quite possibly could have broken something. Has anyone run into an issue like this burning blu-rays? The software seems to recognize blank DVDs without issue. The Windows burn to disc feature doesn't recognize the blu-ray disc as valid, but I'm not sure that ever worked since I only used the Roxio software for burning. The computer can play back blu-rays without issue so the drive itself seems to be ok.

A couple of us do happen to have that software:

But the posting for issues with that should go in the EMC 10 area, HERE.

If you post there, send me an IM (upper right) as I normally don't go there ;)

Also include some more details like what program in that Suite you are actually using and some info about your media.

cdanteek - The format option comes up for me as well when I put in a blu-ray disc. The problem shows up when you try to burn data using the burn to disc option in Windows.

Jim - I'm using the Data and Backup option with Memorex 4x 25GB discs.

What is interesting is the 4MB over message only comes up when I try to burn a data disc. If I select any of the other options like Audio, Photo, etc. The message goes away and it shows up as 0KB free. It seems like the software thinks the blank discs are full.

Thanks. Looks like I've acquired a some expensive coasters. At least I didn't spend my own money on them :-) Thanks for the replies.

It could be the drive. Is it in Dell Warranty?

Can you check the media on a friends system with another BD Burner?

I tried different BD-R's and RE's and cannot replicate it...

Confirm that you have not formatted these disc under the Win7 Auto Play or ever used them before? (I know you said that, please double check)

You said you were not running IE 9 Beta... does that mean you are running IE 8?

Choose Creator Classic and see what it has to say about using these discs...

Nobody I know near me has a blu-ray burner. The computer is still under Dell Warranty, so worst case I can open a support case with them to get the drive replaced. I'll probably make a trip to CompUSA to pick up a different brand of discs and maybe see if they can check out some of the discs since I did buy 1 spindle there.

I'm not sure why BD-R isn't listed under supported media for the drive since it is a blu-ray burner. Memorex is now banned for life from my house!

Your pic is so small I can't see the burner name # ID and the firmware #?

Memorex doesn't make media they have a maker put their name on it and the packaging.

I'll bet it's RITEK RIDATA media.

Download this free software and Identify your Memorex Disc's.

This might be a drive issue. I just bought a spindle of Verbatim BD-Rs and they aren't even being recognized.

Manufacturer PLDS DVDRWBD DH-6E2S - firmware rev: 7D12

Yes, the discs appear to be from Ritek.

Here is the image from a DVD. It seems to be able recognize a DVD-R disc without any issues.
