Chapter Buttons Do Not Work

Baanman

Question

I recently burned my first DVD from DVD creator in Roxio Creator 2011. I have a Sony VAIO, 6gb memory, core i7 running Windows 7.

I was burning a project with multiple chapters, but the buttons to advance to the next chapter menu did not work once I burned the disc. They worked fine, albiet slowly, during the preview function in DVD creator. I have, I believe 25 chapters spanning 6 sub menus. Also, I am writing to a double layer disc and have only 181 mg of free space remaining on the disc at standard quality. The quality of the video once burned to DVD is sub-par quality.

1) Did I overkill the program with so many chapters?

2) Is this a bug with a solution?

3) Should I keep to a specific space maximum when burning to a double-layer DVD?

Video is measured in TIME...

What is the total length of your project?

If it doesn't fit on a disc using HQ your Player may have trouble wtih the reduced encoding rates... There is no setting called "standard quality"???

Clear up what doesn't work???

There is a known issue with low quality rates and Menu Buttons. Look through THIS.

Jim,

Thanks for the reply and the link.

Answers to your questions: The project is about 2 hours, 20 minutes, So I guess I will have to strategically remove some content create two discs. I used the selection "standard quality" by the burn button at the bottom left. I think I was a bit too gung ho by trying to add vacation slide shows AND vacation videos on the same DVD. That is easily corrected. I will also print and review the post in your link. Hopefully, that will clear everything up.

Since compression is the issue, my guess is that encoding time will also decrease if I use High Quality.

We must not be on the same page at all???

Neither MyDVD Express or MyDVD have a burn button on the lower left  Nor do they have any setting called "standard quality"...

There is a "Standard Play" which will yeild 2:57 for a DVD DL disc but encoded at a 352 X 480 @ 6 Mbps... That would be low enough to cause button problems like those described in the Post I linked to.

Sorry. Bottom right. And, yes, it is standard play. Long day of DVD burning frustration (if you can't tell). The 352 x 480 would explain the poor video quality. I will try again using the suggestions in the post. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. Just to mention another point......when I view the DVD on my computer, the buttons highlight when I move the mouse over them, but when I click on them, nothing happens. I assume that the post you referenced will take care of that as well.

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.
