I Need Help - Can Someone Tell Me If This Is Possible?

Iggy228

Question

Hello, everyone!

Here's what I was asking about -

I made a MyDVD project where I have a menu with a background photo and a button to press for a slideshow. There's also menu music playing before you hit the slideshow button.

The way it's always been when I made a DVD with a slideshow, you pop it in the machine, the menu comes up with the music, and it plays for however long I set it to (20 seconds, 30, 80, whatever). Then, when that time is up, it starts playing again.

And that happens over and over...then eventually (at least with my player), it ends after repeating several times, and the screen is blank. And if I hit play at that time, the slideshow begins to play.

SO, with Roxio Creator 2011 Pro, is there anyway to have the slideshow play by itself, but AFTER the menu plays at least once, so people can see the menu with the photo, the slideshow button and hear the menu music, then it plays without needing to hit the play button?

Finally, after the slideshow ends, can it be set so it can loop? You know, it will start with the menu again and then play by itself after they hear the music and see the photo at least once?

Maybe it can't be done with this software, but I figured I'd ask.

I'm sorry for writing so much. Just trying to be clear and thorough.

Thanks!

Have you ever seen any menu that works that way on a DVD? I don't think it is possible with most software packages

Dave and Jim have seen DVDs that work that way but C2011 will not do it.

Actually, I have seen at least one DVD that did just that, Walt. It displayed the menu for awhile, then without any interference, it just started playing.

Not sure that can be done with Creator 2011.

But, what you can do instead is make your slide show in Video Wave, then create a DVD without a menu. In most players, it will automatically start playing the slide show then repeat. The "repeat" part is dependent on the player itself.

Wow! Thanks so much to all of you for responding so quickly, and with such great answers.

Yes, I love how the commercial DVDs work, and I wondered if one could be made that way with Roxio Creator 2011.

I made a DVD with slideshow to play at a cousins' wake the other day (old family photos of her life from the beginning to end, with music), and I wanted to know if it could do that. People wanted it to play, but if I wasn't there to start it with the remote, it would have just played the menu with the intro music over and over and over...

Then when the slideshow finished, it went back to the menu, to play over and over again.

I thought that maybe I wasn't aware of something in the Roxio program that would have done what I wanted. It worked out alright, and the quality was great, but it would have been more convenient.

So thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate it. I learned something new!

There are 2 ways you could come close…

A NO MENU Project or setting the last movie to play from the start.

‘No Menu’s will play on insert and loop.

The change in the After Playing setting will produce a Menu that you must start the movie from!

Then it will loop until it is removed from the Player.
