I recently upgraded from 2009 Pro and have been having a slight problem - I cannot get any sound from my videos (viewing them, editing them, previewing them and after creating a DVD). Everything worked perfectly with 2009, using the same videos. Help.

Some more info would be helpful - please read this and come back

Please explain exactly what you are doing. All you have posted "I don't have sound". Do you have sound when playing the mpg file through a software player like WMP or VLC?

When I import a 2009 project and go into 'edit movie' and play the clip there is sound. When I run the preview I get sound. When I right-click on the clip and select 'go to linked movie/menu' I just get the first frame (with no sound). When I create a DVD I get sound.

When I create a new project and repeat these procedures I get the the sames results, but with no sound.

(hopefully I've explained everything this time, if not, just let me know and I'll try again)

Of course you will not get any sound for the highlighted situation. All you have done is to jump to the first frame of the movie, you are not playing the movie at that point

As to the problem with your "new project". What is different about it? Have you muted the audio somehow? Does the video clip play in WMP?

The videos play normally in WMP and I haven't muted the sound (the sound still plays on the menu). The files are, as far as I know, standard mpg, from a Sony DCR-SR75 handycam, recording in PAL format and I've set Creator to output in PAL.

As for the hghlighted comment, Creator 2009 set the video clip running t that point. Is this something that's changed?

I don't know how C2009 worked since I never had it installed. Also I would never use that way to play a clip. Have you clicked the "animate preview" icon in the preview window menu bar? You can use that to play the video.

How did you get the video from the handycam to your computer?

I've found the animate preview button, so that's one thing sorted out.

The two ways I can copy vidoes both involve using the USB cable:

1) Use the supplied software which recognises untransferred videos.

2) Open the handycam folder and copy the files myself.

Using both of these methods result in the videos playing normally in WMV and Creator 2009. At the weekend, I tried to restore the computer to pre-2011 installation but that made no difference. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a driver or system file that's been corrupted or deleted.
