Roxio Creator Plus 2011 - Crashing - Dvd Maker

djebreak

Question

I have more than enough memory...hard drive space...etc, but for some reason when i get about 20 minutes or so into my dvd creation in either creator programs...it freezes up than crashes. What can I do to stop this?? What am i overlooking if anything that could keep it from happening, or is there any patches or downloads for a 64bit computer. I am frustrated...i hope someone knows more than me and can help, Thanks!

Could you explain with a little more detail what type of project you're doing? It sounds like a corrupted file could be causing the problem.

Regarding updates, SP1 has been out for a bit. Have you updated? You can find the update here.

I have installed this system in various ways for the week I have owned it. Support has had me doing many things in regards to installation. I got a wild hair last night and installed it on my laptop. After importing the files, I created a new project similar to the one I had created before. This project includes 35 different chapters, and is approx. 142 min. When I initially create project, I import video files as at once and choose to make them all one movie. Then I chapter the movie with edit the chapters. Then I create a sub-menu on main page. I associate chapter selections to one menu and whole movie to another through settings in the view tab. When I click on either the first or last chapter menu, I am able to work, add text and music files, but if I choose any other chapter menu, the program freezes. I have done this on two computers, many times and have received the same results. Any suggestions?

Your project is much too long!

A standard 4.7GB DVD can only hold 60 minutes of video at best quality (HQ setting). Any longer and the video has to be compressed with a resulting loss of quality. You are propably using the Fit-to-disc setting which gives the wors quality and corrupts the menus.

When you create chapters the menus are created automatically and you do not need to do anything else.

What are the exact steps you are taking to create the chapter and chapter menus?

I am importing the video as one file. I then choose the edit chapters. I break the project into chapters, and link them to another submenu. I can edit a number of these chapter menus, but eventually it locks up. If this program will not allow for creation of two hour movies, can you tell me one that does. As a side note, 2nd level Roxio support had me repair a .net microsoft file, and this allowed me to do more, but still the persists. I am using Vista. I ahve to get this project done by this weekend, please help.

There are several but they will all result in less than desirable quality. Have you considered a double or dual level DVD? If you can control where it is played, and you have a player that will play DivX format, you can consider something like that. Google for software that will do it for you.

In the meantime, make sure NOTHING else is running on your computer. Disconnect from the Internet and shut down your anti-virus. In Video Wave, go to the top menu and select tools, options and put a dot next to software. When you go to burn, select High Quality save to an Image file (ISO) and then use Copy and Convert to burn the ISO to the disc.

The chapter menus are created automatically if you are creating the chapters correctly.

Please explain exactly how your are setting up the DVD & chapter structure.

At this point you would be best off splitting the movie over two DVDs since you are under a deadline.
