Uninstalling Legacy Products

Muskie

Question

I have just finished installing Creator 2011. I still have Roxio Burn, Roxio Drag-to-disk, and Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite showing up in my program list. I purchased Creator 2011 as an upgrade. Can I safely remove all of the other Roxio products except Creator 2011?

Thanks,

Muskie

That depends on your skill. ;) Did you update your OS?

If you have plenty of hard drive space, why would you want to remove the programs? Not all projects/templates that you made in EMC 9 may work properly in Creator 2011. You can edit your start up programs so that Roxio Burn (?) and D2D do not start at boot. There are a lot of registry entries and you don't want to screw something up. It would have been better if you would have removed them before hard (except EMC9. if you are using XP or Vista).

Thanks for you quick response! I purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and installed EMC 9 that I had been running on my old XP box. I'm not worried about losing EMC 9 projects\templates. Since I had but an upgrade package I was reluctant to uninstall anything before installing Creator 2011. I was kind of expecting the Creator 2011 to uninstall any legacy stuff that it was replacing.

I have plenty of HD space. I guess I'm just trying to keep things cleaned up, but I too am concerned about hosing my registry.

You might as well uninstall EMC 9 since it is not compatible with Windows 7.

I'll do that. Most of the features I used worked, but I have been getting pop-ups when booting up about incompatable dll files.

Thanks again for your help.
