Toast 11 Crashes

siross

Question

Have used Toast V.10 without a problem. Purchased Toast 11 to have access to the Blu-Ray plugin.

I installed V. 11 and got crashes which start with no DV camera found, downloaded 11.0.1 with the same result!

After every crash, when I restart the App, I have to go thru the registration, serial number screens, and then the

video. The program then proceeds with its basic screen, the error message--30581, and then the crash.

Any ideas? Can the v. 11 plug-in work with v.10?

No DV camera found? When does that appear? That should only come up if you are in the Video window and have a Firewire video device connected that isn't a DV camcorder. Do you have a Firewire device connected that may be triggering this?

I don't know if the version 11 Blu-ray plugin will work with Toast 10 but I doubt that it will.

I suggest trashing the Toast plist and prefs files before relaunching Toast (you'll have to go through the setup assistant again). Also, maybe this article is relevant.

I have had, for years, a Formac TV unit that is attached with Firewire, as well as several Ext HD's. No problem with V.10. When you choose a Video source, such as a Video_TS or Blu-ray, the V11 first states there is no DV source, one clicks OK, it goes to the source you have chosen, then crashes.

With V.10, the default is the camcorder DV, but there is no error message, you can choose another source, and all is well. I have removed the program, trashed the prefs, and the only improvement is that it always crashes with Blu-ray, and sometimes with the Video_TS.

Tech support has yet to answer, so if I can't resolve this issue, I will return V.11 and get the V.10 Blu Ray plugin

So we now know Toast 11 crashes when an unrecognized Firewire video device is connected. Be sure to pass that info along to Roxio. Maybe that can be fixed in an update.
