V2D Error Code: 000D

turn0176

Question

Hello,

I just bought Roxio Easy V2D today and tried to install on my laptop (Acer Aspire 6930 with Windows Vista). When I went to instal the program, an error code came up saying:

Setup Encountered an Error During Installation

Error Code: 000D

It comes up just after I select a language. I inserted the CD into my drive, double clicked the CD drive in My Computer, selected English and then this error code comes up.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Thanks.

Is your anti-virus / firewall software shut off when installing a program?

Go here and download this free application and install it.

ImgBurn v2.5.5.0 (5,386 KB)

http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Put the installation disc in your drive and choose 'Create Image File From Disc'

Choose your source and destination path and see if ImgBurn will rip the disc to a iso image file. If it does use a un-zip tool (free links #16 in my signature) to extract the image file in the folder, then click setup.exe to install.

Just finished taking those steps and the same error message came up. I'm currently reformating my other computer so once it's up and runnning I'm going to try and installing it on that computer and see if it works.

It did and I double clicked on the setup file, it extracted the file and began the installation but got hung up at the same spot it always does. Very strange thats for sure

Looks like it's my computer. It's loading thus far on my second laptop.

Strange.

What operating system and service packs are you running?

Make a new user account with administrator permissions and try installing from that user account.

You left out that important part, Imgburn successfully made a image file from the installation disc. I would have to agree that proves the drive can read the installation disc without error, so the drive and disc are OK.

Let me do some checking and I'll get back.

After extracting the image file with winzip did it look exactly like this?

CD's work, DVD's work, I can burn CD's and DVD's. I can also load other installation discs on my laptop as it is now.

I didn't get an error message when I made the image file. I went through the steps, made an image file then used Winzip to extract the setup.exe file and it began the instal and the Error code came up again at the same time as it always has.

What do you put in it that works, CD's or DVD's?

What was the exact error ImgBurn gave you when trying to create a image file from the V2D Disc?

Just got back from where I bought it, they gave me a new CD, still gett the same error code: 000D

Do you have a different drive to try the disc in?

Or another PC with a different drive to try the DVD in?

Thanks for the help,

Tried both those suggestions and neither have worked. I'm going to take the disc along with my computer back to Best Buy to see if they can help me out with it.

Thanks,

What does "neither have worked" mean?

Any additional error messages?

Error Code: 000D is a error reading from the disc.

Make a new folder on your hard drive, navigate to the Easy VHS to DVD Disc in the drive in My Computer. Right click open explorer on the drive with the disc in it, up top click edit, then select all, when everything is highlighted, right click copy on the highlighted folders. Navigate to the new folder you made on your hard drive open it and right click paste. If you get a read error try rinsing the disc off with warm water and dry the disc with a soft cotton t shirt. If you still get a read error take it back to where you bought it and ask them to replace it.
