Spin Doctor Will Not Open

Lucas H

Question

Hello Toasters,

I recently upgraded from Toast 10 to 11. Everything works great, except for Spin Doctor. When I try and open the application, I immediately get an error message "The application Spin Doctor quit unexpectedly. Mac OSX and other applications are not affected. Click relaunch to launch application again. Click report to see more details or send a report to Apple."

I have tried opening through the application folder on my mac, and also through Toast 11 (via the "Extras" drop down menu"). It is still on Version 1.0, and I am not sure how to get download version 1.0.1.

I thought it might be a plugin issue, and I have checked the Library>Audio>Plugins>VST, but there is nothing in that folder.

Is anyone else having this issue, or know how to fix it?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Running Mac OSX 10.5.8

All Toast 10 software is still installed, and CD Spin Doctor 6 still works perfectly.

Sorry but I don't know what might be the cause. It launched for me, okay. However, Spin Doctor X has some problems even if you do get it to launch so it is best right now to use the version from Toast 10. The Spin Doctor X update happens after launching the 1.0 version so that's why you can't get to 1.0.1.

Do you have any external audio or video devices connected to your Mac? If so, maybe that is affecting the launch. Also, try trashing the com.roxio.spindoctorx.plist file in your user>Library>Preferences folder if present.

This was caused by an issue in the original version of SDX (Spin Doctor) included with Toast 11 and the crash will only occur on some 10.5.x machines. If you download the full update of 11.0.1 from our software updates page, it includes an updated version that will resolve the issue.

I have the same problem. Updated Toast 11 to v. 11.0.2. Still not working. The manual refers to "SDX Audio Capture". Thought I was missing something. The brains at Roxio tell me "Spin Doctor does the same thing". Why didn't they just explain what I had to figure out myself: SDX is SpinDoctor? Still doesn't open, though.

Do you have Spin Doctor version 1.0.1 installed? If not, and version 1.0 won't launch, you need to get version 1.0.1 by downloading the complete Toast 11 bundle update from Roxio's software updates page. If version 1.0.1 doesn't launch then there must be some kind of conflict. Do you have any other audio editing applications installed?
